pretty sad considering my high school football games would even be on TV... -
Ive always thought Smith seemed like a doorknob... but its nice to see him being vocal around the team. Maybe hes becoming more comfortable and he says hes more confident as well. Hopefully he takes a big step this season

That defence combined with gus starting is going to be a nightmare. -
Did the Wings change the font on their jerseys?
WingsallTheway replied to Branton87's topic in General
Its now become the classic "Did the wings change their jerseys" just kidding thread -
Probably that he was a 3rd liner at best getting paid 5M dollars a season for 7 years. Hockey is a game of confidence, as soon as you start failing expectations, the game becomes harder and harder. Imagine if Cleary was expected to be the second best scorer on our team. Both players play a different style, but Ville has a chance of being able to put up some more points with a good supporting cast. Take a look at BUF's roster last year: http://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/BUF/2013.html That team has literally NO supporting cast and all his linemates are small. He clearly needs someone on his line to give him space to work. Regarding your point about his playing style in Boston, I agree 100% that hes soft as butter.
-
He can still play as a third line scorer. At 1M or even 800K, what do they have to lose? Can he REALLY be worse than Cleary at 1.5? Theres a big difference between playing on a PHI team as opposed to BUF, which has one of the worst teams in recent memory. On top of that, maybe the pressure of making too much money got to him. I know personally, I play hockey better when im surrounded by good line mates.

The annual glitches started coming out for me today. Some guy kept firing clappers from the corner and they went in about 25% of the time. Give it enough time and everyone will be doing them once they catch on.
-
So would I, but it belongs to Cleary.

Literally the only positive is the graphics. The AI is still terrible, and the stick handling has become more robotic/automatic and just doesn't feel creative. The only mode that offers any replay value in HUT has become harder to maintain with bad menus as well. You'd think only having one mode they would atleast put some added effort into it. Goals look 100X better at first, but like every other NHL game they become repetetive

Don't buy it. Felt bad even purchasing it because I knew it was going to be a flop, and it is. Don't even want to elaborate, lol
-
No sense in trading for him unless its a deadline acquisition. Its not looking like were going to contend so why give up some of the future when it looks like there are plenty of signs that he would just come here in a couple years anyway.
-
Im in the same boat... Was waiting on gettng the Xbox one for when NHL came out but now with the removal of EASHL I guess I'll just be buying UFC or NBA 2k.. Its actually so frustrating, classic EA to remove the best game mode so they can likely advertise it next year as a grand return for marketing. Its not a surprise that the biggest money grab in HUT is going nowhere... Been getting this game on pre order since 06 and this will be the first year I bail out

I agree with the Smith comparisons. Del Zotto is better right now, but Smith has all the tools to become much better than him. Smith just needs to work on his mental game . Its true Smith would get snatched up quickly in free agency due to this potential. Most people feel Del Zotto reached his peak when he flew under the radar for his 40 point season.

3 and a half quinceys and a cleary. He could go either way with the flyers, he skates really well and they need to potentially replace Timonen. Low risk signing id say, he still has that potential and he has stated that he wants to show the NHL that he can still play. I kind of see this becoming similar to the Raymond signing in Toronto last year. I still have to wonder if he was offered a contract to play here... he brings some of what our defence desperately needs. ( Not exactly saying he'd be a good fit; but there is that chance )

Candiens, P.K. Subban agree to 8 year contract
WingsallTheway replied to Euro_Twins's topic in General
Three pages for a race bomb to be dropped...not bad. Its clear that his attitude isn't perfect but it's definitely blown out of proportion because he's in Montreal. -
Who is YOUR most under-appreciated/unsung Red Wing?
WingsallTheway replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
I agree with holmstrom. As soon as he left, our PP went from #1 to 20. Obviously this is in part to Lids + Raffi, but theres no doubt he played a huge part. We havn't been able to do anything net-front wise since he left. Holmstrom created so many chances just by being there, frustrating goalies and tipping shots. So many ugly rebound goals or screened shots from the point went in because of him You could also make the argument that our PP stinks because we can't take it into the zone, but thats another argument. -

Yeah , at least in baseball they play what, 500 games in a season? Most of it is spent standing and chewing gum, but who am I to judge? -

Great. If PK is the building block for a 9M dollar contract, we can all prepare for our fourth consecutive lockout -

I started to actually watch every game in 07 so I've never seen him play Which is what makes it ( IMO ) -

WingsallTheway replied to germanwing's topic in General
Probably lol, there was also logo hunter and shinpad assassin. Of course Sammy isn't AS bad as Williams, who IMO was the worst forward ive seen play for the DRW since the lockout. That said, Sammy was a whole different breed of bad this season. His poor play even translated into GR, where he managed -4 in 2 games. -
Signed Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV
WingsallTheway replied to marcaractac's topic in General
Exactly. He either gets locked up once his potential has been reached, or we can just let him go. Theres also potential for another 1 year bridge contract. Im actually very surprised Tatar went for the 3 year -
2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
WingsallTheway replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I would pass on Setoguchi. Hate that guy, probably the biggest diver I've ever seen. Penner I also don't see working out too well on the wings. Big, slow, lazy.... We have enough Franzens. Not to shoot down your suggestions on these players lol, I would like to see some fresh blood on the team especially via tryout.
