With a minute left we had Sheahan Glendenning Richards and Pulkinnen on the ice 2) OT WHY IS ATHANASIOU NOT ON THE ICE? Honestly, if the NHL was pure 3 on 3, he would probably be one of the best players in the league. Guys speed and hands just reek of 3on3. He's had what, 2 shifts on 3v3 OT and he was amazing. We had Sheahan out there instead, and he's been nothing short of a ghost.

with only 30,000 seats I dont see tickets being cheap (especially because Toronto) and they'll be pretty hard to get as well. Kind of a bummer since I'm sure 25% of it will be corporate

The more I watch the more evident it is that the D is our issue. In my opinion, our forwards are great. I could go on for 30 minutes right now about why the D is the problem but I'm not that motivated haha I dont understand why our PP is set up for shots from the point especially since we dont have a pure shooter on the point besides Green. It was great when we had Lids Rafffi and prime Kronner back there but it just doesn't work anymore. We never move the puck down towards the net.

That Russo guy is for sure doing his part to cut in line. Where did he even come from? Someone care to inform? I'm usually very informed on our prospects but he came out of nowhere this year Really wish we had just 1 top pairing dman in the minors. We have so many 5 6 and 7's

I agree that he has slowed down. Its his first season and Larkin, along with every other rookie we've ever had, are getting used to the grind. I think Marchenko will be a solid guy for us for awhile. Just noticed Marchy is a 7th round pick. Good for him, thats another steal I'd say.

Our worst Dmen on any given night can be any of Kronwall, Ericsson or Smith. I've watched every game this year and I never yell at my TV "WHAT ARE YOU DOING MARCHENKO" so to me, that is my answer for this thread. The only bad thing I've noticed about Marchenko is he seems to get laid out big time about once a game. But, he always gets up right away and is never phased so who cares

So giving Smith 4-5 more minutes a game stops us from being a bubble team. OK

Smith is good and has skills. Its too bad he has a hockey brain the size of a field mouse. He will NOT get better. TOI will not help him get smarter. I think if he was raised as a forward he would have been a better player. If Smith had Larkin's hockey sense, then he would likely be a top 2,3 Dman. Unfortunately, he doesnt and never will. This is also why you never see Blash or Babs put him on the ice more. He can't be trusted.

I can go along with what you are saying but I'm one to think that when you take a player in the 1st round he should be projected as a valuable player. Smith is not. Smith was argued to be a top pairing Dman at one point. Now, you could argue that he shouldnt even be in our lineup and we have a horrible D. Obviously not EVERYONE drafted in the 1st round pans out, but I think when you take a guy with that 1st pick he should.

Unless he following year he becomes "OHL defenceman of the Year" Just like Smith being a finalist for the Hobey Baker as a defenceman, it increases expectations regardless of draft position. Would we not consider Smith a bust?

I watched Sproul play twice for the Soo Greyhounds in his final year in the OHL and labelled him a future bust then and there. Hopefully I'm wrong but I just didn't see the potential. Obviously 2 games is a horribly small sample size and I hope he can become a good offensive defenceman

Just for the record, I frequently check GD threads at intermission when we have a bad period, usually more entertaining than the game haha

I agree with you, I think Mickey tries to give the other team credit at times. I've for sure noticed that he'll at the very least make an effort to not be completely biased. I think I went over the top saying they are the biggest homers in the league, but they are for sure worse than the Canadian broadcast when it comes to homerism. I'll tune into a TSN/SN feed if it's available, just to get a different announcer's perspective and different camera angles. Most of us are just used to FSD so when we tune in to the Canadian one, it can be a bit of a culture shock to see a 60/40 bias. From what I've noticed, Canadian sports shows tend to just jump on the bandwagon of whichever team or player is playing better and they'll toot that horn for the whole game. I think were pretty fortunate though, because the most popular American teams here in Canada are PIT and CHI, along with DET, so even on Canadian TV we can get some favorable commentating. My summary: FSD is more biased than SN

I don't mind the Canadian broadcast for a change of opinion sometimes. They're just biased, which is to be expected; theyre airing to a Canadian broadcast so the majority of the viewers will be cheering for the Senators. Imagine watching a FSD feed from another team's perspective.... Mickey and Ken are the biggest homers in the league haha. It would actually be unbearable to watch if you're a fan of another team

Marchenko played tonight. I agree Kindl doesn't have a future here but he's looked good in his most recent stint. With Green and Kronwall out hes been pretty good in an offensive position, where I think he needs to play Looks like Dekeyser might be out for a bit, which is horrible. Thats our top 3D with Kron and Green and arguably our best in Deke. Will be interesting to see Jensen get a shot though

Obviously just to increase his trade value so we can swap him for Kindl and a 2034 6th round draft pick
