Helm has been lackluster all season and barely even plays with an edge anymore. We can't afford to re-sign him to a new contract and me saying he'll return home is pure speculation. He can't even crack the lineup for a coach who has already coached him for multiple seasons. Or is it those sweet youtube videos? If we aren't sold on trading sproul, replace with oulette,marchenko, or jensen because one of them is hitting up the waiver wire next season. To retouch my point, It may be slight over payment but it 100% isnt worthy of holy f***ing overpayment. IF terms were BUF re-signing prior to the trade, its a good deal.

I wouldn't say its actually that much of an overpayment, as long as we get a D/G prospect or pick added. Helm = UFA and already packed his bags to Winnipeg Jurco = Likely on his way out and not as valuable as many think Sproul = Likely bust but still has some potential. One of those Dmen have to be traded anyway. Howard = Howard. As someone already mentioned goalies don't have a ton of trade value. I'd to this trade as long as Buf is guaranteed to re-sign. Instant contender. If he signed elsewhere afterwards then yeah its a bad deal. As for the Mcollum/Coreau argument, I'm indifferent. Both are career backups at best so I'd be okay with either getting a fair chance. If not, backup goalies are as easy to come by as 4th line grinders

Mcollum has actually been great. I wouldnt be totally opposed to giving him that shot right now

I feel like Mrazek has slowed down as of late but I'm still more confident in getting a win when hes in net. He seems to do enough in order to win. Jimmy is almost the opposite, does just enough to lose....no matter how well he plays

Yeah, and prior to this season everyone wanted to trade him from what I saw. It isn't uncommon for hockey fans to swing back and forth on their opinion of a player haha

Malkin gives effort like 50% of the season. He either absolutely dominates or is invisible. Not what you want from a captain. Having said that, when hes on top of his game, IMO hes the best player in the NHL

Logic: If Ferarro = 2 Pulkinnen = 6 Kindl = 4 3rd pick = 3 And Toews = 15 Well that's just fair for everyone! Holland isn't completely stupid. If someone would have offered him a pick for Ferarro he wouldve taken it. He probably got claimed solely on the fact that he was a Red Wings 2nd round pick

If we're giving up Howard + Kindl, throw in Callahan and Smith for Malkin/Toews three way trade where we get both. Maybe throw in a 2019 7th to sweeten the deal

Apparently he has been recently diagnosed with a disease where he gets fatigued very quickly. This happened early on this season shortly after Tortorella called him out of shape. I have to feel like this is a factor for Columbus looking to move him, would make sense.

Who would you compare Ferarro to in order to equate his value?

We have trouble landing spots for prospects on our club in any role, that includes all of the top 12. Callahan, Mantha, Athanasiou, Callahan, and Jurco could all play in the NHL. Same with our D we have 3 guys ready to go but we have no need for more bottom pairing Dmen. Only type of player I can see jumping right on right away is a legit top 4 prospect on D. What's to think that other NHL teams don't have this problem as well? Would they rather give a home-grown player a shot or make a trade for someone like Ferarro? The only way these guys are going to move around is waiver claims and free agent signings. Imagine we traded for someone like Tangradi last year? I mean, he was drafted 42nd overall in 2007...

Just because he was drafted high doesn't make him an NHL caliber player. If his last name wasn't Ferarro and he was still eligible, he'd be in the minors for a long time. Noone wouldve traded for Ferarro, but what does Boston have to lose by taking him for free when they need to replace Chris Kelly Players get lost on waivers all the time, its a numbers game. Some players fit where others don't. See your boy, Miller. TB was horrible when we picked him up.

I can get on board with Andersson on waivers but Jurco? Come on, that would be such a horrible management move, we could at least get a decent return for him in a trade. ESPECIALLY Ferarro over Jurco? 4th liners are a dime a dozen, we have 8 guys in the AHL who can come and replace him. note: I am not a Jurco supporter
