Well, but you'd expect that, if Ouellet is still in Detroit, that he's getting re-signed. So, there's cap relief... just an unknown amount.

And, it wouldn't be much of a "wake up call" if we (and Mrazek) knew that Holland was sure Mrazek would not be selected. So, if that's the case, we're likely to remain unaware of Holland's exact reasoning on the decision.

Oh, I like Brownov. It's just that Nashville likely would have selected... I don't know, possibly Fedorov if they had the chance. Or, maybe I have it all wrong and Nashville's goal was to get in good with the Maras.

I'm still sticking to my belief that Detroit would've beaten Colorado and gotten the 3-peat in 1999 if Osgood it hadn't been for the Osgood injury.

If Draper had fought Lemieux, it's arguable that the rivalry might've gone more in Colorado's favor. Fight night at the Joe was pretty pivotal. I, for one, am glad it went the way it did.

Well, that was not my intent. I don't, however, have much doubt that Claude Lemieux would have handled Kris Draper quite easily in a fight. Most people don't jump at the chance to fight someone that much bigger than they are... Claude Lemieux certainly wouldn't have.

They wanted him to get the crap beaten out of him by challenging the guy that was 3 inches taller and 35 pounds heavier who broke his face ..... and that's not how it really played out.

Well, if Wendel Clark had won with Detroit in '99, so would Ulf Samuelsson. It would've been nice to see how the end of that year had gone without the injury to Osgood.

Yeah, that was Lemieux's M.O. I remember him constantly provoking and picking on Kozlov.... but when someone his size like Bob Rouse stepped in front of him, Claude suddenly lost interest in fighting.
