Wow lol if I was a panthers fan I would be pissed

I don't get why Sheahan isn't a healthy scratch at this point

Jimmy Howard "Out awhile" - Coreau called up (again).

He definitely wasn't fine to start the season. He was classic inconsistent Mrazek. And while I can't stand Blashill as a coach, I agree with him at least in how he's handled the goalie situation, although Coreau starting tonight is a head scratcher. -

The 3+ GAA and sub .900 save percentage can't be good for his confidence level either -
Widely reported? My google search turned up nothing. Maybe I'm just typing in the wrong keywords into google, but if you could help me out it would be much appreciated.

The Wings have at least had some chances around the net, which is reassuring. They just don't have that killer instinct to do what needs to be done when they get a scoring opportunity. If Nyquist one-times that shot instead of settling it and skating in a little closer he had a wide open net for that brief moment. Someone with that killer instinct would attempt the one-timer even if it was a poor pass. Instead Nyquist played it safe, which I think has been the Wings' mantra for offense this year, much to their demise.

I was more referring to the turnover than the coverage in front, but someone def lost their man in Boyle, too.

well the refs counted it so

Jensen showing promise That was a nice tip, though.

I mean if you have a free day or two it wouldn't be a bad idea to just get a hotel and check out Grand Rapids if you're considering heading over there for a game. That is a wonderful city.

McKee is at WMU still. He should visit Kzoo too

We're gonna win tonight.

If you're staying near Wayne State I would check out Motor City Brewery for some awesome pizza and beer, and across the street from them is Jolly Pumpkin, which specializes in sour beers, and also has a cool menu. Traffic Jam is right there too (mentioned above), but I personally am not much of a fan of that place (but don't take my word for it, give it a shot anyway if you're looking to explore the local scene). Hopcat kinda give me a Buffalo Wild Wings vibe to it, although their specialty is crack fries rather than wings, and their beer selection they have on tap. I'm personally not too big on this place either. Selden Standard is phenomenal and is up near where you're staying, too. I would 100% hit that place up. You're also gonna be close to the Detroit Institute of Arts, which I would also recommend. For lunch/sandwiches I would head over to Mudgie's or Russell Street Deli (RSD is in Eastern Market, if you're going there try to plan it for a Saturday morning to experience the farmer's market. Supino's pizza down there is also excellent). The aformentioned fowling: Its football + bowling. Great atmosphere. A little bit farther out from where you're staying. Closer to downtown Hockeytown Cafe and Chelis are good classic Detroit sports bars, but I would also check out Cliff Bells right down the road from them. Its been a staple of the Detroit Jazz scene for ages and is a great place to grab some drinks, a bite to eat and listen to some great live music. Punch Bowl Social is also downtown but has a lot to do, including bowling, darts, arcade games, ping pong, foosball, a bunch of other things, and great food and drinks of course. Its a fun place. Republic is also great. Their thing is locally sourced ingredients when possible, and an eclectic menu that changes with the seasons. I forget the actual term, but they also serve as a "shared table" kinda experience, meaning someone orders something and its expected that everyone at the table partakes in that particular menu option, so you'll end up trying several things off the menu. Lafayette and American Coney Island are classic coney places. They're supposed to be bitter rivals from the same family, and its a city divided as to which one is the superior coney dog. They taste the same to me lol. Lafayette is more of a hole in the wall vibe, American is a bit more polished. They're next door to each other so grab one of each, determine which one is better and join the war. Slows has legit barbecue, Sweetwater Tavern has legit wings. Breakfast places: Hudson Cafe, Dime Store I both recommend. In terms of skating, campus martius has an outdoor rink at the heart of downtown which can be romantic, especially at night. There's really so many places that have opened up in the past few years I haven't been able to keep up. For every place I've been to there's probably 10 that I haven't, and most of these places have awesome reviews. Above all, I would recommend going downtown some evening and just walking around and see where the night takes you. The safe areas get a lot of foot traffic these days so itll be pretty intuitive for you to identify. If you end up wandering into a dangerous neighborhood all of a sudden you're the only one around and all the buildings are dilapidated. Just use common sense. And I second that you have to supply us with pics afterward.

Fowling is the new feather bowling. That's in hamtramck. Also check out the restaurant scene here, it's really taken off in the last five years.

12/19 LGW GDT : Red Wings vs Hurricanes : GAME CANCELLED
Echolalia replied to NerveDamage's topic in 2016-17
I thought I had read that one of their cooling units had broken down and while it was repaired, the game would have started after some crucial point last night where the wings would be in violation of some rule where the NHL doesn't allow players to play in games within a certain period of time (tampa being the following day) -
Is there a correlation between rest vs a team on back to back and winning?
-
I don't think there's any real conclusion that can be made from this data. I have no idea what the strength of prospects was from year to year, who is doing the above drafting, what years Holland traded his "first pick" for multiple picks later in the draft, what other GMs were doing with their picks, and where Holland fits into the overall picture. There's no way you can actually say Holland is terrible, or phenomenal, or average on this data alone.
-
Just as long as the new guy isn't a "players' coach". They don't seem to get as much out of the teams here.
-
I'm a pretty solid offensive threat in my beer league pencil me in for the third line, move Jurco up to the top line, trade away Vanek for a 1st round pick and plan the stanley cup parade. Oh and Mad Dog McKee has to be in to protect my offensive skills.
-
cuz mad dog mike mckee isn't on the griffins roster to keep the flies off. i say give em both a wings roster spot, put em on a line with jurco and watch em all destroy the rest of the league with mrazek reclaiming his rightful spot as number 1 goalie

Fundamental shift in the way the game is played?
Echolalia replied to grimace1970's topic in General
I have never seen a team play a swarm defensive scheme so aggressively. -
He wont miss any time, and didn't during Sunday's game, but his throw was clearly affected. Two interceptions and his completed passes was lower than it should have been too.
-
Honestly even before the Stafford injury I was hesitant about their ability to close out the season, but now after struggling to beat the Bears at home and with Stafford's throwing hand banged up, my confidence level is quite low. :/
