You should use that drone to spraypaint a Red Wings logo over the Little Caesars logo once the arena is finished

More or less my take, actually. They did a hell of a job expanding beyond basic rock theory for chord progression, though, which i can appreciate. I don't own any albums or songs, though.

Mrazek seemed to regress compared to when? He's only been in the NHL for a year and a handful of games beyond that, and has been wildly inconsistent the entire time. I don't know if anyon can reliably say what his actual baseline is at this point. Is he the elite goalie who can get shutouts every other game who has just had average or bad games regularly, or is he an average goalie who has had a handful of games where he played beyond his ability? A season and a half of games isn't going to tell you the answer to that one.

I wonder why now after 18 years. If there was a problem with his ability to coach I feel like it would have been exposed at some point after two decades and a bunch of goalies coming through. Then again both Howard and Mrazek have been wildly inconsistent the last couple years. However I also can't help but wonder if Mraz and Bedard don't get along. If they have been butting heads there's no way the organization ships Mrazek out in favor of a goaltending coach, and it's interesting that this is happening now, after Mrazek's first full season with the Wings. Although on the other hand it could be Blashill's call, and after working with him for a year decided he wants someone else.

I know the guy was like our leading defensive point scorer but I think Green was abysmal this year, and I hope that Sproul can replace him as well. I'm not optimistic it will happen, but I'm hopeful.

See guys Nyquist is solid. Someone just needs to ride him.

I just want to chime in and say this Joe Louis history is all genuinely interesting and I didn't know some of this stuff

Marquette's Lakeview Arena named Kraft Hockeyville winner!

The UP is America's best kept secret -
I don't get that at all. Like, due to the image being a registered trademark and the amount of restriction that places on the use of their logo, you would think he would have a little less awe about the fact that it will be the biggest logo out there. Its kinda like winning a contest where you're the only contestant and then creaming yourself over it.

I honestly think he will gain something. I thought my post made that clear, but apparently not. What he's getting is advertising. What he's not getting is the additionally 125 million dollars from selling naming rights to a company that he doesn't own.
-
Id almost rather it have gone to the highest bidder. At least then I could understand that the Illitches are further lining their pockets by selling out. But he's paying for the name with his own company, which is essentially shifting his own money from one pocket to another and not actually getting any monetary gain out of it other than what advertising his company might bring in. He could have literally named it whatever he wanted and be in the same place he's in now financially. It makes the name seem that much more slimy.

It's like White Castle. It's god awful but sometimes you just have to have it.

Its funny going through that old thread and seeing all of the comments.

Even if you're going to go with Little Caesars, I feel like there's more creative avenues than Little Caesars Arena. Little Caesars Center, or Little Caesars Stadium, or Little Caesar Colosseum all flow off the tongue better. I feel like dropping the "Little" off the name (which is one of the likely directions the nickname will take) sounds more organic this way too. Caeser Stadium. Caser Center. Caesar Arena. The last one just doesn't flow like the first two.

He's got good offensive instincts but looked lost otherwise. Keeping Mantha in GR was one of the few moves Blashill/Holland did that I wasn't upset about. edit: having said that, I'm looking for Mantha to take the next step in October on the Wings' squad, and I'm looking for Blashill to put him in a position to succeed.

So awful to hear

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
Echolalia replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
Even with his decline in production he was still our second highest scorer this year (and that's with only playing 66 games). As datsyukian deke mentioned, he had the highest ppg on our squad. He will be sorely missed. -
I don't think "proven prospects" exist. If they're proven, they aren't prospects.
-
I wouldn't expect the Wings' organization or fanbase to damn experience, hard work, and a long history of success so the rich popular kid can have a job. Holland was well within his right to decline the offer.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
Echolalia replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Not worth it, especially considering the amount of impressionable youth the Wings are bringing in now. I would hate to have a guy like Radulov be Larkin and Matha's role model. -
Neither Nick Lidstrom nor Duncan Keith were taken with a high draft pick. Neither were PK Subban or Shea Weber for that matter. Erik Karlsson was drafted 15th overall, and players like Luke Schenn and Colton Teubert were taken before him. The point I'm making is with how much research and scouting goes into the decisions made on draft day, its still incredibly lucky when a player who isn't number 1 or 2 overall makes it to the NHL, let alone becomes a star. And historically the top picks just aren't traded.

I think the Wings making the playoffs had more to do with Larkin and Mrazek having league-leading individual performances for half the season while everyone else was busy s***ting the bed. Literally every other player on the team played quantitatively worse than last year. This was a team that was on paper supposed to be better. The league-leading power play from last year now also finally had a right-handed qb in Green and a veteran player and recent Stanley cup winner in Richards. They finally got rid of Weiss. Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan were all a year older and closer to their prime ages. And then when we had an opportunity to avenge our 7 game series loss to Tampa from last year with what should be a stronger roster, and Tampa without their top goal scorer and a top paring defenseman, the Wings managed only a single playoff victory. By all accounts this year was a disappointment and almost every player on the roster did not perform up to expectations, even if you want to factor in some sort of rookie coach handicap. Hopefully Blash has learned some things throughout the season, and uses the offseason to learn a few more things, and comes back next year in better position to get the most of this team. And hopefully he gets some help from Holland.
