I don't want him to rejoin the Griffins only because back in February when he was first called up I went on a limb and said that he played his last game as a Griffin, and I want so badly for my prediction to be true that I'm willing to have the Griffins suffer through the playoffs without him. Gotta admit I wasn't a fan of his work this season. Just about every player on the team performed worse compared to last year's individual stats. Mrazek played on his head for half the season and Larkin played on his head for half the season, and I think those two factors are what got the Wings to the playoffs. I haven't seen anything particularly impressive from coaching all season long. I guess he has a long summer to do some homework on how to be an effective NHL coach and Holland to maybe grab some fresh blood, but I'm not particularly excited with the state of this team right now.

Story of the postseason has and continues to be missed opportunities. One 5 on 3, three breakaways, two posts, and zero goals is absolutely unacceptable, especially in an elimination game.

I would keep Pulkkinen out of the lineup. Even if you want his shot on the power play, the main issue that our PP has is dealing with the pressure that Tampa brings on the PK. Nobody has time or space to get a shot off, and that was a personal issue for Pulkkinen in the regular season. I struggle to believe he will be the Wings' savior in this aspect, and add in the obligatory 20 turnovers that come off his stick and there's plenty of reason to kee him scratched. As unpopular as Anderson is here, I'd much rather be play than Pulkkinen. As far as the power play goes, this one is on the coaching staff to work out. Tampa is bringing pressure with 4 guys. The Wings need to adapt a strategy that exploits that and gets the puck to the open man quickly. That means players without the puck showing hustle and actively skating to open lanes to become an option for the puck carrier, and that's exactly what I'll be looking for tonight. When they bring pressure to the defenseman at the point do we have a guy on the half wall skating to an open area of ice? Do we have someone filling in the ice the Tampa defender vacated in the slot to pressure our defensman? Are we using the boards and the back of the net as a pressure relief? We didn't do these things Sunday. We need to do them tonight.

Compare the location of Wings' goals vs Tampa's goals. Three of our four goals have been from floaters from the point, and Larkin's breakaway goal. We are not producing around the crease, from the slot, or from the face off dots. They're boxing us out and we aren't hopping on rebounds, or in the case of game 1, we are simply shooting everything from these locations right into a body or wide of the net. Playoffs are won and lost in the area within five feet of the crease, and right now we're losing that battle. The wings have a plethora of issues to overcome but this is the most glaring to me.

First world problems in here. Def go. And toss an octopus in the lower bowl.
