Wow those ads have silky mitts. But shame on the goalie for biting on that fake shot before any dekes even happened. That was the moment the goal was scored IMO. The rest of the way he was just trying to play catch up.

I think Larkin's speed and youth makes him more qualified to play a 3 on 3 allstar game that goes on for 10 hours, too.

haven't seen a whole lot of movies or tv shows although I'm trying to remedy that. what the heck is a comfort movie anyway? like something I watch when I'm feeling blue? The person below me has a paranormal experience to share

I have a huge man crush on Elon Musk and am so disappointed that they don't participate in the auto show. Its understandable though, because they cant independently sell their cars in Michigan, which I think is bulls***, but whatever.

I think Panarin deserves a lot of praise for Kane's point totals, too, instead of the idea of him piggybacking off Kane's offensive ability. I mean, Kane hasn't put up these numbers with any other forward he's ever played with. Panarin is a big part of that.
-
The problem with discounting Panarin because he's playing with Kane is that this argument can be extrapolated to include Larkin when compared to Domi. Larkin has been playing alongside Zetterberg and Datsyuk, who, while not as productive as Kane has been, are still better than what Domi has had to work with.

Definitely check it out. Such a well executed miniseries.

Over the Garden Wall The wonderfully whimsical, yet haunting tale of two brothers who find themselves lost in a mysterious wood. FEATURING: Elijah Wood as WIRT Collin Dean as GREG Christopher Lloyd as THE WOODSMAN And others! Including Tim Curry! John Cleese! and more! The show is a 10 part miniseries, with each episode chapter at approximately 12 minutes long. SO ITS NOT A LONG INVESTMENT LIKE BREAKING BAD OR WALKING DEAD! You can crunch this one out in a couple hours and come out on the other side in time for dinner! It has spectacular animation and beautifully crafted landscapes reminiscent of a Miyazaki film, so if you're into artistic design its worth the two hour investment in that alone. BUT WAIT! The story is excellent also! At first glance it seems like a simple children's tale of two boys trying to make their way home after getting lost in the woods. But its so much deeper than that! The writing is clever, managing to be simultaneously charming and horrifying, again the comparison to Miyazaki is warranted here. Except there's elements of Tim Burton as well, without being so over the top about it (a plus!) As it was initially aired on Cartoon Network and the target audience at first glance appears to be kids, you may think this isn't going to be very interesting. But you couldn't be more wrong. While the story caters to kids there's also plenty here for adults as well (in fact much of the story's deeper stuff will go over most kids' heads). Symbolism like whoa! Literary references! Existentialism! Metaphors! What are you waiting for! PLUS THERES MUSIC! Who can forget that classic hit POTATOES AND MOLASSES?? Or my personal favorite A COURTING SONG! Yes there's a song for everyone in this gem! And the best part? Chapter 1 is on YOUTUBE for free! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? Over the Garden Wall is an EMMY AWARD WINNING classic worth watching! AND THATS A ROCK FACT! Echolalia gives 5 stars, recommended for all ages

I've lived in the Detroit area my whole life and have never gone to the auto show. I've never been all that into cars, though, so the interest just wasn't there. Still, I feel kinda filthy admitting it.

kickazz your goal is to become a vine tonight -
If Larkin can close the scoring gap a bit, and maybe take over goals he could have a solid chance at it, because all the intangibles are in his favor. Way younger, no professional experience, carrying his respective team, producing regardless of where he's put on the lineup (goal tonight was assisted by Glendending btw), almost all his points are even strength (pro or con?). I don't see the league voting him over Panarin though when he's 13 points behind.

At the beginning of the year one of the threads asked who Larkin might be traded for, and I had suggested Parayko as a possibility to consider. My mindset was both of these guys could become franchise players for their respective positions, and I figured the Wings had more higher-end talent up front in the prospect pool than on defense, so it might be a trade that would make sense down the road. As far as defensman, he has everything you could want: solid defensively, huge size, booming shot, goal scoring ability, etc etc. In retrospect I'm glad we have Larkin over him, though, because I was not expecting our offense to be as anemic as it currently is, and Mrazek seems to make up for any lack of a franchise defensman (at least in terms of goals against) at the moment. Still, if we could somehow swipe Parayko from the Blues I would be willing to move a lot of pieces to make it happen.

Larkin is unbelievable -
I'd rather have Helm.
-
What's the purpose of this move? Just to get him to GR, or is someone else coming up? edit: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2016/01/detroit_red_wings_waive_forwar_3.html#incart_river_index

What I don't get is why Sheahan isn't taking more shots at the net. His shot is crazy good when he's had a chance to use it. -

Am I the only one that's been way disappointed in Green's play? Like, I could kinda maybe stomach all the defensive lapses and him regularly getting walked like a dog if he was scoring goals or breathing some life into the powerplay. And I could kinda maybe stomach the ack of goals and powerplay points from the guy that was supposed to be our go-to offensive defensman if he was at least solid defensively. But he's really struggling on both sides of the puck lately. -

The challenge rule has quickly become one of the most annoying things about hockey. cant wait til playoffs -
yes, in fact, i believe the headshot rule came into place in 2010 so there may have been an internal league study which discovered the same thing that these guys did(this study was 2013 I believe). One of the issues is that the study only focuses on incidents that lead to reported concussions. So if it wasn't reported it didn't make it into the study. It also obviously fails to address long term symptoms, of which many may arise even in the absence of a concussion.
-
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23637116/ Its a rather limited study but they looked at reported concussions between 2006 and 2010 and looked correlations between diagnosis and mechanism of injury, age, height, fatigue, etc. Almost 70% of concussions were a result of direct contact to the head, the vast majority of which were due to blindside checks. Almost 10% were due to fights.
-
for sure. but there's still a lot that can be done to limit the incidence. Crack down on headshots, which the league has already implemented and is working on, crack down on fighting, which is slowly phasing itself out, invest in more research to develop helmets which soften cranial impacts, continue to change the culture of hockey, continue to emphasize respect for the opponent in youth leagues, etc etc. That last one, in particular is also relevant to the McGrattan KO. Fans were eating that s*** up in the stands while the guy is dead on the ice, which really perpetuates the situation.
-
lol I was actually surprised that it was John Scott when I looked back to see who the goon was who Kessel was trying to bat.
-
I certainly think contact to the head is going to continue to be phased out. Especially as all the research becomes more publicized. Contact in general I don't ever see disappearing.
