I'd rather subscribe to the preventative approach instead of Russian roulette approach. I gotta admit, though, the latter definitely gets your heart pounding. Also just a side note. Just because he's conscious and making jokes and has no obvious immediate neurological deficits doesn't necessarily mean he's okay. Long-term consequences of repeated head trauma don't typically manifest immediately after impact, but rather years later, when these guys start forgetting the names of people around them, struggle with drug abuse problems, impulse-control issues or depression, have signs of Parkinsons disease and so on. Its not an ultimatum. In fact the only time I've ever seen anyone engage in a stick swinging affair was when John Scott was trying to jump Kessel. So, the result of a fight.

ok? Sorry, I'm not really sure what the point of this comment is. Are you suggesting because other sports have an even worse record of traumatic brain injuries that it makes it okay to continue to endorse fighting in the NHL?

I gotta say, Nyquist has been noticeable for all the right reasons the past few games. Not necessarily scoring goals, but he really seems to be asserting himself into the play more. -
Nothing like celebrating the long-held ritual of giving and receiving head injuries

lol I'm not missing anything. I wasn't the one that decided not to suspend him. But you're right on both those points. -
injured Kronwall out 2-4 Weeks after Knee Scope
Echolalia replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
This actually worries me. He's been quite a defensive liability lately. -
They tend to be due to blows to the knee, which forces the knee to bend against the ligaments.

Wow that's awful. Two thirds of the unhappy triad (I wonder if his MCL was also injured but not damaged to the point of requiring surgery). I wonder what the long term implications of that are going to be on his career. I'm not all that familiar with the surgery.

If You Could Be Mod For A Day, What Would You Do
Echolalia replied to Rivalred's topic in Water Cooler
I would run a tight ship and bring GLORY to the word ADMINISTRATION. Violators of the rules will be given swift punishment and the victims of trolls will receive JUSTICE like never before! Under my regime we will target wrong-doers, flame-baiters, trolls, and anyone who goes into the "post every time you look" thread but doesn't post by ip tracking, finding their coordinates on google maps, and dispatching MOD MEN to the scene to deal swift PUNISHMENT. No ban will outright be given as I am a man of forgiveness and second chances, however I don't think many will be posting for quite some time after MOD MEN visits. We will have to hold an official application process for MON MEN volunteers, of course. If you are interested in joining I encourage you to apply. Applicants will be vetted and pending a physical will be given a MOD MEN badge and coinciding avatar and signature to display their AUTHORITY in LGW. As this is a free site MOD MEN will not be payed in cash or perks but in the HONOR of helping to keep the streets of LGW clean! WE WANT YOU! -

He was booted at the beginning of the game he essentially had a 1 game suspension anyway. That may also be playing a role. -

To the degree that Mrazek does it? Not a lot. I've already seen Mrazek's helmet off in his one year as a Wing as I have any two goalies through their entire careers. -

Def interference, but Mraz really sells these things -

i feel like a lot of these official challenges the refs are more looking not so much whether there's interference, but rather if any interference prevented the goalie from making a save. I know there's been a couple times when Mrazek was clearly interfered with, but the goal would have happened anyway, and the refs called it a good goal despite there being goalie interference. That's how I'm looking at this one too. Helm's back brushed up against their goalie's glove, but that's not why the goal was scored. It was scored because the puck bounced off Gudas and went right over the goalie, who had no clue where the puck even was at that point. If Helm doesn't touch the glove that goal is still going in. -

School sucks the life out of me. Star Wars was the only movie I've seen in theaters in probably 3 years. AND I DIDNT LIKE IT Thankfully Hateful 8, the second movie I've seen in theaters in 3 years made up for that.

Factoring in how many games Nyquist played and the points he collected in those games is a good way to compare individual productivity relative to another individual, and in this case the numbers clearly show Nyquist was way more productive per game during that span than Larkin is now, or anyone else for that matter from a couple years back. But my point wasn't to compare overall individual productivity, but rather how much each individual player contributes to overall team productivity, and if we are to accurately measure the productivity of the entire team we have to use goals scored for the entire season. Neglecting part of the season means neglecting a percentage of the goals scored by Wings that year and doesn't accurately depict what the team as a whole is capable of. When Nyquist was playing, many other Wings were injured and thus out of the lineup, so it inaccurately depicts the distribution of scoring on the team and in this case heavily skews it toward Nyquist and away from injured players like Zetterberg and Alfredson (which means the numbers would be interpreted as saying Zetterberg and Alfredson don't contribute to the offense of the team, which is an obvious falacy. Back when they were healthy they were scoring plenty. So using the whole season helps balance that out because everyone who is capable of contributing over an 82 game season usually will at some point). That's not to say that Nyquist wasn't super productive, or even that he wasnt responsible for the bulk of scoring in that span when he was playing (because he was), but we can't make the leap and say that any success the Wings had was due to Nyquist year round, regardless of injuries or any other factors. In other words the Wings were able to rely on others at other points of the season, so it implies they were at least built to not be a one trick pony. Injuries, however, messed that up and we got a first round beating out of it as a result. But that's why I went with comparing individual points with team goals over the entire season instead of just during one point in the season.

I agree they're solid. Nobody in the league is even close to them in the standings, and everyone else has like 3 games in hand on them, too. Washington has a solid team firing on all cylinders right now.

For free I don't know Theres some bootlegs on youtube but i don't recommend them because the quality isn't as good and the artwork in this should be viewed in the best possible quality... I bought it for like $10 but more resourceful people might be able to find it for free. The 10 bucks was well worth it though. apparently its on hulu
