Red Kingdom 4 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 MSU lost in their first round game to George Mason. I don't remember the score but, who cares. They got beat, but good. So much for all the speculating on who they were gonna play in the second round. They'll be watching on tv like everybody else. Unless Izzo opens the door s of the plane and lets them all get sucked out. At least U-M is still going in the NIT.
rage 24 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Yes, State lost. boo hoo hoo. Michigan did win it's first game, and we play Notre Dame at Crisler Arena next. Let's hope for another W!! GO BLUE!
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Even with State's loss, NCAA > NIT. There's two things Tom Izzo has always stressed. Defense and rebounded. Tonight the Spartans didn't do either. Now, if you're excuse me, I'm going to drink the pain away.

BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 (edited) NIT CHAMPS = TEAM #66 Bingo. Monmouth and Hampton > Michigan. I'm pissed about this game. There's no excuses. We didn't get screwed by the refs or anything. I thought there were a few questionable calls here and there, but against both teams and nothing that affected the outcome. We got beat by a team that played hard. Simple as that. Edited March 18, 2006 by BlakChamber

I thought MSU got beat by themselves. Lot of dumb plays and mental errors. George Mason played a perfect game yet for the longest time, MSU was only down 4-6 points. MSU played like donkey s**t tonight.

rage 24 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 What did Shannon Brown have, like 4 points? You guys can't win anything him and Ager and Davis playing well.

rage 24 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 There was a typo in my post. But, if those three aren't playing well, do you win. Tonite showed us, that no, you don't. That's my point. And it's true.

timothy1997 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 looks like MSU didn't lose to that bad of a school. George Mason has knocked off the defending champions in UNC and is in the sweet 16. They also have a good chance in a game against Wichita State. GO PATROITS!!! George Mason is what makes this tournament great.

At least the Spartans didn't get beat by a one-game wonder team who got blown out the next round. However, George Mason beating MSU...I wouldn't call that great
dallas27 7 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 I got destroyed in in my pool. Sorta had to be a little homerish and put State in the Final Four even though odds are they wouldn't make it. Don't jump on my Tim and Blak as if they would have played like they should they had all the talent in the world to make it. State underachieved a lot this year imo. Shannon Brown at least is back one more year to lead this team.

But the unpredictable and the little schools that upset the top teams. Thats what I love in the tournament. How you can go 8-0 on Saturday and end up 2-6 today is what drives you nuts in this tournament.
mannysBETTER3434 1 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 Alright here I want an honest opinion here.....(Note: I'm not bashing MSU or saying U-M is better or anything like that by asking this so don't start) Should Izzo be to blame for this? I mean hes a great coach but this years senior class leaves with 0 big ten championships, and starts out ranked top 5 and never stays up there. I know he has had alot of tourny success but don't you think maybe he should change somthing with his staff or the way he does things? In my opinion MSU had the best starting 5 in the whole country, but half the time they didn't play like it because they played soft. Like I said above I'm not trying to make MSU fans mad, I just want to know your opinion.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 No, if anything Izzo needs to go back to the basics. Defense, rebounding, and tough love. He's changed his style a bit dealing with this team, trying to figure out what to do with them. There's a good column about it in the Detroit News. http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../603190328/1345
