Detroit Pistons off-season thread

Would have been a great pick up in addition to keeping B. Wallace. But as a replacement he ain't gonna cut it. Garnett rumors are abundant on the national sports radio circuit - but I see no way they could financially swing that - unless Kevin is detemined to play in Detroit and would give up salary (how hard should I laugh - an NBA player sacrificing salary  )

I am thinking you don't realize this IS a business and a job for them. If another company offered you $500,000 more a year would you still stay at your current job that you've been at for 5 years? The answer is no. Sure it sucks and it seems like an ******* move to leave the Pistons, but he obviously wasn't happy here and Chicago offered him 12 more million. Be glad that he helped win a championship here but also be glad that he is gone. His 4.7 ppg and 27% ft shooting doesn't cut it. Does everyone honestly think Ben Wallace is worth 60 million?

No. And I bet the Bulls realize that he is not worth that much money. Yet they had to do what they had to do. Got the top free agent in the NBA this summer. Got everyone talking about the Bulls. I am sure a lot of players look at the Bulls as a team on the rise and find it intriguing to play there. Oh and they took a player from the team that won their divison last year. A wise man once said "it is not important that I succeed, but everyone else must fail".

No, he's not worth 60 mill - but as a fan - I have a right to be po'd at him. You can't compare multimillion dollar salaries for playing basketball to the rest of us making peanuts compared to that. I'm still glad he won a title with us, but his legacy is very tarnished in my eyes. Oh, and he bolted to a division rival - that kind of puts salt on the wounds. No sympathy here from this fan.

Al Harrington to the Pistons? Heres a quote from Terry Foster's blog..you can read the rest on freep if you want to...

The chatter around Chicago and Indianapolis is the Pistons are trying to work out a sign and trade to bring in Al Harrington. Is a deal in the works with Atlanta?

Why can't I? He works just like everyone of us, except he gets to play basketball. He works everyday and gets a paycheck every game. I don't have any sympathy for him. I didn't care eitheir way. I'm actually quite glad he left, as much as it pains me to say that because of what he brought to the team, in the defensive end and energy that is.

Harrington >>>>>>>>> Nazr

Still want them to somehow swing a deal for Garnett though.

Well, Ben is officially a Bull. At least he's taking his 20 some free throw percent outta here. Nazr hopefully will bring some more offense and learn to play trademark Piston's D.

The Pistons will not be a defensive team anymore. I expect the Pistons to play alot more upbeat simular to the Mavs or Suns. With the new rules in the NBA, its all about scoring.

Pistons signed Fip Murray today. He had a horrible playoffs, but I think hes a good player. WIth Flip/Nazr we are probally done spending due to cap..so that means no Bonzi Wells  Al Harrington trade is still possible still though...

"With the signing of Dupree, the Pistons' roster is just about set. Chauncey Billups and Lindsey Hunter will man the point, with Richard Hamilton and Flip Murray at shooting guard. Murray will play some at point guard and Delfino could see some action at shooting guard.

Prince, Delfino and Dupree are at small forward. Rasheed Wallace, Nazr Mohammed, Antonio McDyess, Jason Maxiell and Dale Davis make up the front-court rotation."

So it's looking like this:

PG: Billups

SG: Hamilton

SF: Prince

PF: Wallace

C: Mohammed

1: McDyess

2: Murray

3: Delfino

4. Maxiell

5. Hunter

6. Dupree

+: Acker, Johnson, Davis.

The Detroit Pistons will average 115 points per game. Granted they will be giving up 100 but they are going to rain in buckets.

IMO our mindset won't change too much. At this stage they're all saying our focus is shifting to offence, but I can't see too much of a difference. Mohammed was brought here mainly for defensive purposes and while Murray is a good addition to our bench, I can't see us becoming an offensive powerhouse.

I do like the look of our bench though. McDyess will continue to be 10/5; Murray should be able to contribute 10pts a game. Delfino should finally be able to show us his potential while backing up Prince. Maxiell was great in the Summer League and could be useful, and then there is energy that will come from Hunter and Dupree.
