My $8 bleacher seats are $40 ea for the ALDS, $80 ea for ALCS and $175 each if they make it to the World Series- this is insane, a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in 19 years is already price gouging- HAIL ILITCH!

People will pay anyway. The place will be full. I'm glad we're not like Atlanta. 2003 NLDS: Game 5 against the Cubs is on Sunday in Atlanta. Friend of mine gets idea on Thursday - let's go to the game! Found four tickets - this is three days before the big game - from the actual box office, for $20 each. Lower deck. And the place was at least a third full of Cubs fans.

I promise you this doesn't happen at Comerica.

what would you expect from the same guy that raises red wing playoff tickets to the point of insanity. He knows people will pay anything for playoff tickets, hence the huge increase.

Post number 6 and I'm already repeating myself.

Major League Baseball is primarily responsible for playoff ticket prices. Each team can set their own, but it must be within the guidelines set out by the league. And guess what, the league mandates that teams raise ticket prices.

And besides, its supply and demand, econ 101. When demand increases, so do the prices.

Detroit's tickets are more expensive than Chicago's were last year- that has nothing to do with MLB or the parameters of which ticket costs must fall within. I will probably buy them, contributing to Ilitch's empire once again- and scalp some to get my money back, but to say that MLB is more to blame than Ilitch is not true- just like getting Joe Bucks instead of lower ticket prices is not the NHL's doing.

Oh, one more thing on this subject-

I noticed on the Tigers website that the team pulled remaining on-deck circle seats for the regular season from ticketmaster and are now "auctioning" them off on the website. Instead of face value of $65 ea for Thursday's game against CWS, they will be getting $410 ea- people are idiots.
