Nagy a Wing ?

There's nothing wrong with thinking Fedorov still has talent or that coming back to the Wings would jump start him or get him back to scoring 30 goals a season.

I just think he'd be another guy shooting from the tops of the circles and another guy who plays the exact same type of style that has not gotten us out of the 1st round for 3 straight years. I'm not knocking Feds just pointing out that if you go back to the past 3 playoffs you will see period after period where we outskilled, outpassed and outshot each of our opponents only to lose because the shots were all from outside and 1/2 of them got blocked by teams that had 18 skaters willing to dive and throw themselves in harm's way. Chris Pronger wasn't the only reason we lost to Edmonton and neither was Ryan Smythe. It was guys like Torres, Pisani, Staois and Jason Smith that pounded us or crashed the crease, creating havoc and generating some timely garbage goals. I think we need some of that and that's not really Feds' game.

Good post. I see what you mean as far as what type of players we need. I'm all about getting a big, physical, scoring winger that would help us not only on the scoresheet but toughness as well. The Wings definitely lack that and that's what's been haunting them in the last four post seasons. Hopefully Kenny will do something about it soon.

I think the Wings could go far this post season if they DO go out and get someone like I mentioned. Plus, the Wings are much more fast, and even have a little grit to them compared to last season so I think they can compete with majority of the teams out there. Also, Markov is going to help if he stays healthy *crosses fingers* especially with his willingness to sacrifice his body, play tough, and block shots. That's what the Wings haven't had in quite awhile so that will defintiely help.

Thanks for being nice! lol

I totally agree that this team is grittier than it has been the past 3 seasons. My biggest complaints are probably that we don't have a punishing hitter like Torres or Dallas Drake up front. I'd love to have a guy that d-men just hate to see scorching down the ice getting ready to drill them into the boards. After that it'd be a rugged, scoring winger like Tkachuk and then probably a big, hulking d-man like Fish was. But hey, other than that i'm happy as a lark!

As for the whole Fedorov thing, sorry I was an ass about it earlier. I have a great appreciation for what he did for this franchise. And being from Ohio I watch him alot with the Jackets so I do feel that I can put forth an honest and educated opinion on how he's playing. And that's basically why I thought he wouldn't be the best additon for us now. It never had anything to do with me thinking he was a bum or couldn't make us a better team. For me the past 3 years have been about trying to get faster, bigger and tougher to play against so that we're built for playoff hockey. I think we've gotten there speed wise but Kenny still has us lagging in the other 2 departments. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the deadline is going to be a happy day for us all. I know it sounds stupid but I just keep thinking that instead of great skill players like Fedorov or Simon Gagne i'm much rather have hard working lunch pail guys like Torres.

Whatever Kenny decides to do we all better pay close attention to Anaheim. They were my pick to roll over the West and they are pretty much doing it. They won a close one tonight over one of the best teams and highest scoring teams in Atlanta and held them to just 1 goal. More than anybody that team just bothers me thinking about having to play them in the playoffs.

Yeah let's just HOPE Kenny has a surprise for us Wings fans. I'm all for players like Raffi, and Dallas. Those are the exact type of players the Wings need. Someone that can send a message to the opposing team and let em know that they are not taking their crap and will stick it to em, whether it be scoring, hitting, fighting, sticking up for their teammates..etc. I just don't know want to get all excited thinking Holland will make this Wings team tougher and hard to play against only to have him either not make a move or bring in some type of no name or washed up player. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

As for Anaheim, they scare me.

I'm sure most by now have heard the Feds to Montreal rumor. Just wanted to say I think that would be wicked. Kovelev-Sergei-Samsonov. I've always liked the Habs, hope they do well, if the Wings can't win it all I hope it's Atlanta or the Habs.

I'd be excited for anything that gets him out of Columbus, in hopes he can start to look like his old self again.

I saw the Ducks-Sharks game this weekend. holy cow. BOTH those teams scare me.

Great game though, it felt like a playoff game it was so intense.

Yeah I hear you, I'd like to see him get another shot in the playoffs. Although he has been playing some good hockey, same amount of points as Z, in like 6 less games or something. Not Sergei of old, but not too shabby.

No offense to Sergei but I think that them being in the same vicinity point wise is not a compliment to Z. I would have hoped both he and dats were in the mid 30 point range at least by now. Thankfully there's plenty of time for him to get super hot

It wasn't really supposed to be a compliment to Sergei, just an intersesting stat and funny how Z does no wrong, and Sergei is washed up, yet is tied in points with fewer games. Dats is pumping in some points latley, I'd expect that to continue, and lead the team again, for the 3rd year in a row. :D

*edit*----waiting for quick witted playoff points response......I'll do it, hahahaha, "Well, at least Z's been to the playoffs the past few seasons, and Dats forgets how to play in them!!!!11111"

I had heard he'd been doing well lately.

It wasn't so much a knock on his play of late, just that in general the last couple years he hasn't seemed like the Fedorov I know.

And honestly, though they're tied in points, I guess I expect more from Sergei than either Z or Dats. He's a more talented player than those two.
