wukwinn 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2006 Do you think scoring a goal on the delayed penalty should negate the penalty infracted by the opposing player/team?
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted December 30, 2006 Yes. From the simple fact that the team scoring the goal is able to pull the goalie without fear of being scored on (unless Jozef Stumpel is playing for them) they should not receive a power play if they actually do score with the goalie pulled during a delayed penalty--as they will have just scored the man-advantage goal. Unless of course, the penalty is a major in which multiple goals could be scored without negating. Personally, I feel the penalties do need to be revisited; but making it so that power play goals would NOT negate the man-advantage, and double-minor penaltes would be served concurrently; instead of a 4 minute 5-on-4, it would be a two-minute 5-on-3. martyrme19 73 Report post Posted January 1, 2007 The correct answer here should actually be "no". The fact that there is a delayed penalty does not mean that it is mandatory to pull your goalie. In fact, there is no rule saying once a penalty has been committed, the opposing team must pull their goalie until the penalty has been assesed. So in reality, a team could have a delayed penalty, and decide not to engage on the "man-advantage" as it has been put. However, the term "man-advantage" is, in technical terms, being used incorrectly. That is because even with the goalie being pulled, you're still playing 5-5. For a team could decide to pull their goalie for the entire game and play with 6 skaters. why would a team not do this? well, because this is viewed as a "disadvantage", not an "advantage". Therefore, when a team pulls their goalie on a delayed call, it should be viewed as a simple strategy to gain an edge. They are still putting themselves at risk however, if anyone remembers a few years back when adam oats of anaheim passed it back to his D-man and ended up scoring on his own net against the wings. wingsfan40 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2007 My Vote Is "NO". Some of the refs calls are weak as it is. The team should still go a man up.... or take a kick straight to the pills....There choice.
Guest Datsyuk_13 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 First, the weak calls part is pretty much a useless argument, because even when the penalty is called it can be weak, and if you score during the power play, it's cancled. Anyways, it is cancled because the first call was the penalty than since the goal was scored after the penalty, it cancles it. Sorta like if their is an delayed offsides and the defending team high sticks the puck, it still goes outside the zone becuase the offsides call was made first.
