Tucker a Wing?

What would be wrong with Ben Eager on the 4th line? I think that would be great to have him. He's certainly better than having schmos like Langfeld out there, and while he's not an offensive stud at least he has the same amount of pts as Maltby! He'd be a real nice fit.

I'd rather not have a loose cannon on the team, not to mention he'd be another Norton only getting 4 minutes a game.

There's nothing "wrong" with Eager, but you guys bring up some weird ideas for who you think Holland should trade for, as unrealistic as it is to trade Williams and a 3rd for Tucker it's even more unrealistic that Holland or any GM would set their sights on a player like Eager for the stretch run. He'd never see the ice in the playoffs, he's not good defensively or offensively, he's an energy guy obviously and an enforcer.

Eager-trade is quite realistic,I think you guys are on to something here.

There's not going to be a big fish before the deadline/or in July.

And finally LGW's aren't waiting for a Crosby-trade,instead they've turned their eyes on Eager (Whose trade would be soooo Kenny-this years Cory Cross).

Holland will botch it again. He will get a guy that is soft because there won't be anyone left. He'll say "I wanted to wait until the last minute to get the most for our money. It's to bad that Philly, Pheonix and Toronto were asking so much for Foresberg, Doan, Nagy, Tucker, and Sundin. I think with Lilja's grit and determination, he will really get this team kick started in the playoffs."

I dont like the Norton comparison, I'd say Eager is essentially a better version of Bootland. Norton is a guy who has ZERO ability not to mention is a boring lug who just falls down all the time. Ben Eager is actually a guy capable of igniting a spark when need be, and like i said he's not completely inept offensively. If he were on the Wings for a full season im sure he could chip in 6 or 7 goals. He was a first rd pick in 2002, so there's at least some skill there that can be brought out.

I wonder realistically what it take in trade to get Tucker...(please no one mention Williams and a draft pick)

Well, the Edmonton rumours are Torres & a 1st and the Dallas rumour was Jussi Jokinen and a 2nd. Of course, that may be the return if Tucker is signed to an extension as part of the trade, not sure.

The asking price won't be cheap, that's for sure.

How can the OIlers afford Tucker when they're pinching pennies to sign Ryan Smyth. Besides, they need a puck moving D-Man....Schneider for Torres/ Jason Smith :hehe:

Yeah, what's with all the love for Ben Eager? The guy's pretty much useless in the playoffs. This reminds me of how so many people wanted the Wings to trade for Mark Bell in the offseason. Why? What's so great about these guys, other than they're tough? Better to get guys who can actually play more than 5 minutes a game and are tough, like a Gary Roberts or Bill Guerin. Why even waste an asset on Ben Eager?

Torres and a 1st?! No. Jokinen and a 2nd sounds more reasonable.

Edmonton has coveted him for years. BIll Watters said on Leafs Lunch that they used to get calls all the time from Kevin Lowe trying to pry Tucker away from them.

Plus, it might be a ploy by the Oilers to make sure that the Flames don't get him.
