After last nights game, I have to admit I'm warming up to the idea, but I also noticed that Forsberg is captain on Philly (no surprise) so I wonder what would happen from that aspect? Lidstrom demoted to Assistant? I wonder what Lidstrom would think of that?

Just cause he's the captain there doesn't mean he has to be a captain in Detroit or anywhere else. Chelios was the captain of the Hawks and its not like they demoted Stevie or even gave Cheli an A.

Yeah .... I mean lets let the Captain of the worst team in the NHL be given a hand me down as the Captain of Detroit, he wont even a A... never gonna happen.

Dont even think Forsberg wants to be the captain.They practicly forced him in Philly.He wants to play on a team that have a chance to win the cup thats all.

If we get him.He will probebly play 2nd line not with Z If i were Forsberg i would choose Detroit.

I was over the idea of getting him but after last night the wings need help on the second line. I like Lang but he hasn't been producing, numbers wise, for a little while now. And the only line really doing anything thing is Hank, Dats and Homer. You can't have one line doing all the scoring in the playoffs. Then all the other team has to do is shut down that line or even just contain them and they will win easy.

On the topic of that line though. Did you see that pass by Zetterberg to Dats last night for the goal? HOLY CRAP THAT WAS SWEET! You could see by the expression on Datsyuks face he even thought it was great.

I think I share a similar sentiment as many others here when I say this but.... Rivalries are great for sports and the Detroit/Colorado rivalry has been the best one I've enjoyed during my life time in any sport. I know it's pretty much dead now though there's still that last remaining glimmer of hope of a potential post season match up, or some other claude lemiuex like incident to rekindle that old flame. But if the Wings sign Forsberg, that'd be the absolute last nail in the coffin.
