Zeta Power 40 1 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 we are out of the forsberg race based on last night's effort and him basically destroying us? He had the game winning goal and setup gagne. According to Eklund, who I know is NEVER right almost 95% of the time were out of the forsberg race and Nashville is leading the way? If scouts were looking at our team last night against philly wow that pretty much sucked then. We were so sloppy, no one was impressed. what do you guys think? Just watching Foppa last night made me want him to join the Wings so much more, he's such a smooth and exceptional player. It would suck if he joined the Preds instead, although it would make somewhat more sense that he played for our rivals rather than for us. If we can get him and a strong top-six winger, there's no limit to how far we can go. Hopefully the scouts aren't stupid enough to base their decisions on just one game... Yeh I was thinking about this exact issue during the game. How will the game impact Forsberg’s decision? Hopefully he realises that it’s just one game and we had a bad night. However the game highlighted some major issues this team will face in the playoffs. The Flyers played extremely physical last night, and we couldn’t take it. Not a good sign. Forsberg was very impressive last night though. Strong on the puck and created numerous scoring opportunities.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 I don't think that last nights game had or will have anything to do with what Forsberg thinks. He knows as does every other player in the league that the Wings are a great team, and a Cup contending team. It'd be completely idiotic to just base it on last night. Especially since it was a back to back game and it was obvious the Wings weren't into it when they came out flat from the get go. That's going to happen to every team. It shouldn't have an impact on Forsberg to Detroit at all. Btw, I really don't see the Preds getting him. I bet all this talk about the Wings, Preds, Habs..etc being the frontrunners doesn't even mean anything. Watch some other team that hasn't even been mentioned yet go out and get Forsberg. That's how it always seems to go.

superstarsingh 23 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Yeah I doubt that because he beat us he is not going to want to join us. Surely he was on the top of his game last night because Ken Holland was in the same building as he was. An audition of present day if you will.

Wow, to be honest with you, I think this whole post is ridiculous. Back-to-back game, in which we had to travel to Philly (who has been resting since Saturday evening), with our third string goalie in. No one in their right mind (including Foresberg) is going to say, "I'll waive my NTC but only if I don't go to Detroit, since they obviously suck and can't beat the worst team in the league." Nevermind the fact that the Wings are 3rd overall. Nevermind, that every team has bad losses (even Nashville who just lost to LA 4-1). Nevermind that the Wings have won plenty of games this season and are in a favorable position to win the cup. I swear to God, way too many people on this site go into freak-out mode the second the Wings lose a game. Nevermind that they had just won 6 of their last 7. End Rant

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 And, I'll say it again...according to all the reports, Nashville is NOT one of the teams Forsberg would waive his NTC to go to. Montreal, Anaheim and Detroit. I'm not really worried about Forsberg going to Nashville. I see Anaheim as a lot more likely (although, their lack of high picks after the Pronger deal make them a question mark as well).

That is exactly the case. Detroit, Anaheim or Montreal. He will either be on our team soon or in Anaheim (which is scary). But I doubt Nashville is going to give up Radulov, or that Forsberg will waive his ntc to go to Nashville. I see Anaheim as a lot more likely (although, their lack of high picks after the Pronger deal make them a question mark as well). Yeah but they do have a plethora of young talent that they could trade away for Forsberg but I doubt Burke would pull the trigger and send a guy like Ryan or Perry or Getzlaf or Penner or any of those dudes to Philly for what we all think will be a rental player. No. One game of hockey can always go any way. The whole season is what matters. If your rationale were true, then Nashville's loss to the Kings would throw them out of Forsberg-contention.
