Viperar 16 Report post Posted March 24, 2007 We wore red today at home...any idea why we switched now? did the blues forget their colors?
Icteria virens 11 Report post Posted March 24, 2007 I think they switched to the dark jerseys to boost sales of them, everyone was buying the light home jerseys EDIT: This is my 200th post, Two red boxes for me! :carrot: my theory is that they switched to dark sweaters at home b/c most of the alternates were dark colored and that gave the home team the benefit of having it's fans seeing the jerseys in person and buying more of them. It's not a theory it's fact. On a side note the red jerseys didn't help change the Wings' luck today.
Adidarw 35 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 I've gotten used to the dark jersey at home. I like it this way now. Is there a link to a source saying the NHL is going to white home jerseys next year or did someone just pull that out of nowhere?
bogeygolfer 4 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 I like the white ones better
Viperar 16 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 i still hope they implement the black jerseys....i find the red wing in the middle of black looks sick, while its not the typical looking jersey of an original six team, i think it would be good as a third jersey
WestWing 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 i still hope they implement the black jerseys....i find the red wing in the middle of black looks sick, while its not the typical looking jersey of an original six team, i think it would be good as a third jersey I live in San Francisco, and even though I see many more Wings games than SJ Sharks games courtesy of Center Ice, I do agree with something Marty McSorley (doing color for the Sharks) said - that having the road team wear the colored jersey is more fun because the fans get to see a cool rotation of opponents' colors. As it is now, every team that comes into your building wears white, which is kind of boring. Guess it just depends on what fits your fancy.

I've gotten used to them as well , at first I didn't like it but now I do. When you think about it every team has a white sweater so what's the sense of wearing it at home, let the home team where the colors they're famous for. It's the way it was up till the 70's. Funny how it's always been (for the most part) that way in the NFL but Basketball and Baseball have always been white at home.
