Wings are the worst team in shootouts

Apart from the fact that the President's Trophy gets us a matchup with Calgary and home ice through the playoffs, it also means, that the chance of winning the Cup is about 30%. (6 of the last 20 Pres. Trophy winners won the Cup).

Of the 280 playoff teams that haven't won the President's trophy in the last 20 years, 14 won the Cup. That's only a 5% chance.

Go Wings, let's beat Nashville for the 1st overall! :)

and home ice is pretty important, too. not only because we play much better at home, but because it would likely mean quite a bit less travel if we made it deep into the playoffs. playing teams out west and having to make the 2000 mile trek to the coast 4 times instead of three times in a 7 game series can make a big difference. i want home ice.

Washington-- 1 and 11-- is, by far, the worst SO team in the league. In any event, yes, this team has not done well in shootouts in the present season. This is rather irrelevant at this point in the season IMO, because shootouts do not exist in the playoffs and we play very well 5 on 5.

Well Hasek is nothing without his blue line stands while 1-on-1, which only works about 15% of the time. And in the shootout it would work about 0% of the time.

Plus Babcock put Bertuzzi and Cleary out last night, as opposed to a finess player. Or one with 1-on-1 moves.

In the last couple shootouts--especially against Dallas--the team's inability to score, rather than Hasek's inability to save, have killed is. In fact, that's been the issue the entire year. I agree that Hasek is not the greatest shootout goalie. However, he HAS shown that he can consistently stop breakaways without hitting the blue line, as in last night's game.. twice.

Edit: I love the track that this thread has taken.. lolz (no sarcasm). I couldn't have said it better myself.

Our shootout team Dats-Willy-Zett functioned pretty well last year.

Willy is gone, Zett has been injured. That means that our other shootout players like Bertuzzi or Cleary are not as suitable for it. Although Bertuzzi is a very usefel player that we needed, shootout isn't form him. It requires more technical players with skillful hand and creativity - Filpulla, Hudler, I wouldn't mind awarding shootout attempts also to Lebda.
