One of the stores I buy my hockey stuff from posts a trivia question every month and I am having problems finding the answer to this question. I know the peeps on this board are very good with this kind of thing so I was hoping someone can tell me the answer and your source. Thanks for the help!!

The question is:

Who holds the record for most points in an NHL game?

Joe Malone with 7.

He also potted 44 in 20 games, a record that stood for over 30 years and was only broken when Richard potted 50 in 50.

Eva, I know that you have an extreme fascination with Joe Malone and most people have no idea who he is but he (Newsy Lalonde too) put up some ridiculous numbers in his short career.

Lalonde actually has a better career gpg stat.

You can't talk about those two without bringing up guys like Cy Denneny and Nels Stewart.

Only because Malone suffered a pretty bad injury before 30.

Malone had a higher peak, having scored better than 40 goals a couple times in major pro hockey, something Lalonde never did in any league.
