4/5 GDT: Red Wings @ Blackhawks

Recommended Posts

I think the last time Detroit lost to the Blackhawks in regluation was December 28, 2003. Detroit is something like 14-0-1 against Chicago since then. With back to back games against Chicago and one point to clinch I think the division race is over.

But you know it would make Chicago's season (it would probably make their decade) if they could knock Detroit out of first. I expect a lot of effort from them over the next two games.

You bet yer ass it would.. they'll be flying all over the ice. We oughta be careful of injury in these two.

With Anaheim's SO loss, a win tonight will clinch the western conference.

Don't be so sure, there are back to back games in the playoffs and if they make it to the finals I guarantee at least one Oz start.

Wings 4 (Bert x2, Dats, Malts)

Hawks 2 (two random feathered puckers)

I don't think b2bs exist in the playoffs, my friend.

Even if there was a b2b game for the Wings in the finals (which there won't be), and Dom is still in net, there is no way in hell Babcock would put in a cold Chris Osgood. The whole point of Ozzie getting one of the two nights in the b2b's is that it would take away the unnecessary strain on Dom's groin. Babs wanted to ensure that Dom was in top shape heading into the playoffs, which he is (*knocks on wood*), but now that the playoffs are here, you can bet he'll start every game even if a b2b presents itself.

Here's my knock-on-wood moment. If the Wings were to get a 3-0 lead on a team, would Babcock risk an unecessary injury? Even if Oz is "cold", he still is practicing with the team and is a relatively good goalie in the play-offs. Plus, if he would lose the game 4, Hasek would be rested for game 5.

I know there would be no b2b games in the SCF, but I have a feeling that I have seen b2b games in early rounds, unless I am thinking of the Olympics or something. And if Hasek or Babcock doesn't feel like risking it, Osgood is the best back-up in the league (Mason, Bryzgalov, and Nabokov don't count, they are 1Bs)

These next 2 games might get real silly.

I'm gonna say it -> back to back games the Hawks simply do not send a puck over any red line except the one at center ice.

A shell of who they use to be, but I love any Original 6 matchup. Plus, we always beat 'em.

Gooooooooooo WINGS!!

yay, I'm going to be at both of these. Finally get to hit a Wings game. I've been to Hawks and Wild games (due mainly to living in Wisconsin, these two teams a quite a bit closer geographically), Wild games are pretty crazy with that crowd. Hawks are a bit... meh... with their crowds. Can't wait to see the crowd at the Joe. No real predictions here I just want to see Bert score, and to hear the horn at the Joe. Oh, and I can't wait to see if the Chicago crowd has a bigger Wings fan contingency or not.... heh...

there are also no guarantees in the playoffs, either. ;)

When have you ever seen a b2b in the playoffs?

Good call. Rare, though.

Me? I never gave it any thought, actually. I was referring to the guarantee that Ozzie would be starting in second games of back to backs. I don't have any idea if the Wings staff will stick to the no b2b "rule" with Dom in the playoffs. As usual, the playoffs are another matter, when compared with regular season. If we're winning in a series, I can't see Babs changing goalies unless one of them is hurt. But we'll see, I reckon.

I expect the Wings to come out flat (per usual) in the first, but manage to keep the score 0-0, with strong play by Ozzie. The Wings finish of the game with a strong second and third, winning 4-1.

And oh, PLEASE NO INJURIES!!!

Cool - I'll be at the Saturday game, Section 118.

I'd love to see Pasha get to 90 points this season...he's 4 away. However he gets them, either 4 goals (which would get him to 30 - not shabby either) or 4 assists, who cares? I would just like to see him hit that mark.

I think we will win...not predicting a score, but I'd love to see Pasha have another multi-point game.

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
