HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 strain shouldnt be more than a day or two right? Yeah. It's more about being sore, and having tightness in the neck than anything. He should be fine. I think they'll sit him out against the Hawks which would give him a good week or so if he even really needs that..

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Chi announcers just said Bert has a neck sprain. I don't know the difference, sprain vs. strain. Wikipedia, anyone? A sprain (from the French espraindre - to wring) is an injury which occurs to ligaments caused by a sudden overstretching (for the muscle injury, see strain) A strain is an injury to a muscle in which the muscle fibers tear as a result of overstretching. Strains are also colloquially known as pulled muscles. The equivalent injury to a ligament is a sprain. Neither sound great, actually.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 probably feels like when you sleep wrong and have a crick in your neck (as my dad woud say). Oh, I know all about that (on top of my chronic back problems), so I feel Bert's pain. Mind you, I don't necessarily feel like I just bowled over a goaltender. Just like if you were to sprain your leg, knee, ankle..etc. A strain is moreso soreness, and like someone else said on here for an example: When you don't have a good sleep or are positioned badly and wake up with pain in your neck. That's what a strain would feel like. Usually goes away in a couple days..sometimes less.
