Zetterberg is the man!!

The Wings better shut these guys up!

Driving around for work today listening to the local sports radio. They had all the "pros" on from HNIC, TSN, Sportsnet, Reporters from many major newspapers around North America. Consensus is the Wings will go out in 6 or less and is will not be considered a major upset. Only one guy - the local Vancouver guy - says the Wings will "upset" the Flames!

Detroit is getting so little respect it is laughable!! I know if the Wings play to their potential they should handle Calgary and if they step up a gear they will crush Calgary! I can't wait to get this going!! GO WINGS!!!:clap:

Oh yeah....and the Vancouver Police have already prepared security plans for game night street party's. All the talk here is that they are the odds on favorites to take the Cup. Talk about sounding over confident???!!!!

wow. Vancouver has to get past Dallas first. I give Dallas the edge in Round 1, so those parties could be short lived.

I hope the Wings, if they pay any attention at all to what the media say, are just laughing and shaking their heads. We believe in them, and more important -- the Wings believe in themselves. Whichever team the Wings face in round two will not be so sure of themselves.

Just think about it this way. Every season since Lord Stanley's Cup came to Hockeytown in 2002 we have won the President's Trophy, and CHOKED in the post-season. This year we DIDNT win the President's Trophy so we wont choke in the post-season. :D

HOPEFULLY!

we didn't win the president's trophy in 2003 and that's been our worst post-season choke since we won the cup.

i think vancouver's got a better team than dallas.

what's your point?? you don't have an argument either, dude.

yeah i wasnt pretending to have one saying so and so has a better team, you presented your opinion as a fact that van has a better team and therefore that being the the ultimate point of sway. I was disagreeing with your opinon

Why? Luongo? Nucks have Luongo, true, with zero playoff experience. Dallas has Turco, who does have experience and probably more importantly, has something to prove. Dallas also has Smith, who is just as good as Turco, IMO.

I watch Dallas a lot and haven't seen all that much of Vancouver. I know Dallas is tenacious and will hang in there. Zubov is a Norris-calibre defenseman, w/ Boucher, quite formidible. Modano is clutch...' nuf said. Dallas' biggest issue is coasting for 40 minutes and then winning in the third (like some other team we know and love). They tend to win in OT and SO a lot, so the OT will help them, anyway.

It will be a good matchup! I like Vancouver and Dallas.

did you read my post?? i said i THINK vancouver is better. i never presented it as fact. it was an opinion and was presented as such.

i've only seen either team when the wings have played them. so you are probably a better judge regarding dallas. vancouver's looked better to me in the games i've seen. but, again, you have more to go on. i'd take luongo over turco anyday.

I also would take Luongo over Turco on a given day, but in the first round of the playoffs, I believe the Stars will prevail. Dallas is a good series team -- not overloaded with talent, but very smart with lots of chemistry. I think they'll outsmart the Nucks, wear them down and figure them out pretty quickly. Gosh, I sound like a homer, but I am just telling what I've seen there. :P Turco's a bit over-hyped, but he can play, and Smith the backup is as good as Turco.

I've always liked Vancouver (although one of the guys I liked best is now a Wing.. woo!) and used to say they were a goalie short of a Stanley Cup. OK, they have Luongo and not Cloutier, let's see what they can do, eh?

Bang on......it is kind of interesting this underdog position they find themselves in!! Maybe just the incentive needed to psych out the opposition.

It is kind of like a B-52 flying under the rader???!! :P

Meh, as a Flames fan I can assure you I feel no better knowing the Wings early round playoff past. I believe each year has totally different circumstances. Looking forward to a hard fought 6 or 7 game series. Flames on top of course ;)

My apologies. NHL.com's Standings didnt say who won the President's Trophy in 2003 so i just figured it was the Wings because someone else on a different topic said they had won the President's Trophy every year since 2002.

The Wings actually should've won the Pres Trophy in 2003, but choked it away in the last game of the regular season in Chicago (whew, and what a stinker that game was by Cujo)... they wouldn't have even played Anaheim otherwise.
