redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 It isn't often when you can take a series and mark a single moment when everything was going one way and then suddenly swung completely around. I think it happened in this series. The Lang goal changed the series completely in a single moment.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Yep good call. If he didn't score we would have been down 3-1.
Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Oh man!!!! whitneydatsyukrox 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I want to say that we got lucky there with Lang but it really just does show his skill. I still am in disbelief that we won that game. I truly think we may be out of the playoffs now if it weren't for Lang's goal.

datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 most important goal of the post season thus far. had that not gone in the wings would probably calling for tee times by now. after that game we fairly dominated the play. haven't said this in a long, long time, but WAY TO GO LANGER!!!!! puertoricanWingsfan 5 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 30 seconds away from going down 3-1, and we end up winning 4-2. Incredible. What buffalo did to the rangers, we just did to the sharks: tie the game with only seconds remaining, win it in overtime, take the momentum of the series with the victory and eliminate the opponent. Atta boy lang
redwinger4747 6 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I sometimes laugh at how hard we are on our players sometimes, like Sammy and Langer, but recently, I feel comforted that it doesn't take a lot for us Wings fans to get positive again. A couple goals by Lang and Sammy and we are praising them again. I like that we are tough but also that we aren't that hard to win back over. Way to go Wings and Wings fans! eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 The Yzerman goal in 96. Huh? I do think that was a great goal, and very dramatic...but it hardly was the turning point in a playoff series nor did it define the playoff year. Yzerman's OT winner was the last play of the series. And while that could be viewed as a turning point, usually those don't happen at the very last second of the series. And the Wings were badly outclassed the next round. I think it happened in this series. The Lang goal changed the series completely in a single moment. Good play by Lang, but it took the whole team. Someone picked up the puck in the neutral zone and got it to Filpulla, who made a great pass to Lang. Franzen was in the right position for Lang to fake the pass to him, and then Lang made the shot. Then others won it in OT. Lang's goal would have been meaningless if not for Homer, who couldn't have done it without Lidstrom's shot, and Lidstrom would not have had the puck had Zetterberg not won the face-off.
