JSG's pads were illegal back in '03 the way I recall it, with most saying he was one of [if not] the biggest offender. As was pointed out, you're a new fan, a bandwagon jumper or similar, so you probably don't remember history very well.

In '07 he's streamlined his equipment to legal size [as far as we've been told anyway ], but now he's added padding to prop up equipment such as his shoulder pads - still illegal in my book. Buy a f***in' clue and quit the homerism - it's so over the top it's pathetic.

I agree. It's not only the media but Ducks fans seem to forget that we dominated them in 03 but they were saved by Giggy's pads. (Maybe a lot of those Ducks fans don't remember because several of them just got on the bandwagon this year).

The Stanley Cup isn't about who dominated; it's about who wins. Your 2003 team came into that 1st round thinking "Why do we even need to be here? Just push us through because we're Chelios, Yzerman, Shanahan, Fedorov, blah, blah, blah" You lost because you had no heart or passion for that series and you came up against a team that did. And you had absolutely no respect for your opponent. By the time you finally did get an ounce of respect or heart, you were down 0 - 2 and up against the Conn Smythe winner that year. The thing is, Giggy isn't the only goalie that has outrageous (but still legal) padding. Luongo, Miller (the dude is so skinny he could pick locks with his calves), etc.

But like you said, Giggy gets the brunt because of how rediculous his equipment was in '03. It also doesn't help his case that he never makes hard or spectacular glove saves (or any upperbody, or sprawling saves). Kelly Hrudey said last night that Giggy said publicly that he has no athleticism and has to rely on making himself 'big' while using sound positioning. I hate how big a lot of the goalies equipment are but if they did shrink them down to normal levels players like Luongo and Miller would still be in the league and probably thrive. Not Giggy. He's all pads and he would be lit up like Paris Hilton on her birthday if they were the same size as goalies from the 80's.

Giggy = no talent+giant pads+2 Norris dmen in front of him.

Put him in Broduers equipment and stick him on Chicago and his GAA would be over 6.00.

We lost because at that time clutching, grabbing and interference were allowed. The Ducks uses this to a T while Giggy made the most of sofa cushions up his jersey.

And he's still with the Ducks because he earned a huge contract after that playoff run and nobody else in the NHL can afford it via a trade.

I keep reading about Detroits "A" game. If they havent played it IN 2 WCF games AT HOME, when the F are they going to play it? Maybe you dont give enough credit for the Ducks taking the game from them. Maybe youve seen their A game vs the Ducks? Many teams and their fans have waited for that "A" game but in REALITY, the Ducks take teams "A" games from them. 6 shots per period. 19 shots in the entire game. If not for Francois Beauchemin putting 2 goals past Jiggy, you wouldve lost both games at home. I havent watched any Detroit games this season outside the ones they played the Ducks but if they cant get up to play their "A" game AT HOME in the first 2 WCF games, what do you expect in games 3 and 4 in Anaheim? YOU WILL GET OUR A GAME.

Ive also saw a bunch of people excited because you beat the Sharks. We owned the Sharks all season. I wasnt remotely worried about the Sharks. In years past, pre Pronger, Thorton and CheeChoo ran rough shod over the Ducks and Cheech would net 20 goals a season vs the Ducks alone. Different game with the man Pronger on the ice and we beat the Sharks 3-1, 5-0, 7-4, 4-3, and 3-2. You can see the lopsided scoring there no? Take pride in coming back and beating a "younger, stronger" team in the Sharks but they are FAR from the same team thats in your face now. Reality check.

I agree. We were concerned about being off for 8 days, travelling to your ice, and matching up. Well, they answered all that pretty well. We got a split in Detroit and now take home ice. Being honest and really watching the first two games, youve done well on the PP and great on the PK (though they didnt count as PP goals we scored 2 but show an ofer in the PP column)but overall, Detroit has been outworked in all but 1 of 6 + periods. We did take a lot of penalties in gm 1 and were lucky to be in it til the end. I expect a different team on home ice. They were smart and stayed in town last night, just got back, and will be ready to defend home ice. Giguere is even more sick at home, look up his stats. If they havent brought their A game yet, Detroit better find it by tomorrow or it could get ugly by Friday.
