Pronger: "They can't handle us 5-on-5..."

LMAO. Here we go again..

So the Wings haven't been impressive 5 on 5 so far in two games, how in the hell does that mean we can't 'handle' them? TWO games makes up a series eh, Chrissy? Leave it up to Pronger to always talk smack. And then "Oh they better be ready for Tuesday." Right. We'll see about that. The Wings will start coming around on their even strength play, and when they do who'll see who's the impressive team, with the Wings already owning the Ducks on special teams.

I just find it funny i haven't seen Prongers statements on any other site or hf boards.

It's not funny at all, really. It wasn't an on the record statement and just overheard from the showers, apparently, while the rest of the media was taking part in their scrums in the lockerroom. I'm just repeating what he said and not verifying its validity.

It's not a stretch at all that Pronger -- or anyone else for that matter -- said that or any number of more "colorful" things, it just doesn't get relayed through normal channels because it's not on the record.

Perhaps this guy was stirring the pot,but i find it hearsay at the moment because i think even Pronger has a great level of respect for the opponent and wouldn't make such blank statements within earshot of reporters.

Honestly, there's no reason for Brady to lie about it -- it was said on the show in an amusing matter -- and most, if not all, of the Wings' players would probably agree with Pronger, anyway.

And Pronger maybe thought "What's said in the shower, stays in the shower." ;)

God all I wish is that I had to drive him to hockey!!! I wish I didn't have to watch him get crosschecked deliberately into the boards by a kid who has 50 lbs and 8 inches on him and then watch him crumple into the ice and wonder if he's going to get up. I wish I didn't have to watch the coach hold up 3 fingers in front of his face and pray that he sees 3 instead of 6. I wish that I didn't have to worry about some kid on the opposing team getting mad at him for lifting his stick in front of the goalie so he can't score and then wack him in the head (yes I've seen that).

I would really like to know how many posters on any board actually play the game. My guess is less than 25%. It's great to watch the game on TV or from the arena seats. But I get to stand at the glass and have kids hit pucks at my face and slam their bodies into the boards right in front of me, so yeah, I know that playing hockey is different.

I wish you all had that experience.

This is getting way off topic. Sidenote: Sounds like you worry too much.

Actually I am kind of worried now about some interesting Ducks news that just came out....

It's not news that Teemu injured. And kunitz its going to see the doctor, out for the series.

Its true, the Ducks have really had the advantage 5 on 5 so far in the series.

Unfortunately for them, plenty of the game is played on the PP of PK, which the Wings have had the upper hand on.

This is going to be a dogfight for the Wings, they really have to work hard if they want this series.

Side Note: Anyone else think that Brian Burke is a ******? He whines almost as much as Lindy Ruff, and he loves having a team full of goons. Take Shawn Thornton - The guy can barely hold a stick in his hands and skate at the same time. Did you see him drop the gloves again last game? He tries to fight anything, anytime, and he isnt even good at it. Guys like that don't belong in the NHL. I'm surprised he can crack the Ducks lineup.

Yeh somehow I don't see Carlyle and the rest of their staff rubbing their hands together and saying, "We've played well and Detroit is frustrated. Keep doing what you're doing boys ...".

Anaheim's special teams are a joke. Imagine for a minute: Detroit gets their 5 on 5 together [likely]. Where exactly does that leave the Ducks?

According to all the "professional hockey analyzers" were not even suppose to be here right now.

According to the "professional hockey analyzers" earlier in the season, we weren't even suppose to make the post season.

Thank you,my point exactlly. The Sharks were supposed to get rid of the Wings.

Thats why I never take to heart what the so called experts say.If you ask me they know as much as anyone of us do.I say the Wings are gonna open up some whoop ass on them Ducks.. :hehe:

I keep reading about Detroits "A" game. If they havent played it IN 2 WCF games AT HOME, when the F are they going to play it? Maybe you dont give enough credit for the Ducks taking the game from them. Maybe youve seen their A game vs the Ducks? Many teams and their fans have waited for that "A" game but in REALITY, the Ducks take teams "A" games from them. 6 shots per period. 19 shots in the entire game. If not for Francois Beauchemin putting 2 goals past Jiggy, you wouldve lost both games at home. I havent watched any Detroit games this season outside the ones they played the Ducks but if they cant get up to play their "A" game AT HOME in the first 2 WCF games, what do you expect in games 3 and 4 in Anaheim? YOU WILL GET OUR A GAME.

You make some valid assertions. I scratch my head during some Wings games and ask some of these same questions.

Why did he wait to shoot?

How come we don't run their goalkeep? (not pointing solely at this series here)

Why rip another 85' slapper into the shins of that FWD again?

Why such WEAK clearing attempts?

etc etc etc..........

Guess my point is that I do think the Wings can bring more than these 1st 2 games, regardless of what any opponent might be doing.

And also I'd add - be a little careful about that home-ice thing - sometimes teams come out a bit tight in front of the homecrowd.

Hey we'll see! The series is even......A game, B game or C game......maybe that should be scary for the Ducks?

Amen, pornie. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Hey Donger, go away and don't come back unless I need to hail a cab!"

Later,

Jeff

What the f*** are you reading? Everyone's currently on their knees in front of Anaheim expecting them to easily win the Stanley Cup.

Well, here's a newsflash: If it weren't for a bulls*** call, you'd be down 0-2 to a better team.

Knew I saw it somewhere, here ya go. Looks like a clean sweep for Minnesota, half and half for the Vancouver series, 2 for Detroit in this series. Thats what the f*** I was reading s*** talking trash mouth. http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/postseason/expertpicks

Now that the Ducks have threatened Datsyuk, I think that it's time for Big Bert to start breaking a couple of necks...

If you are counting on Bert for that, he's one hit from being in traction. Dont hold your breathe.

....thirdly, i have no doubt that we have the two best forward in this series as well. datsyuk and zetterberg have been incredible up until this point, adn i thot that zetterberg was the best forward on the ice in game two (clearly was kick ass too). i think our d is more capable of shutting down their big guns than their d is of shutting down ours, and i think that bodes well for us....

Yeah, Zetterberg and Datsyuk are good, but we can't rely upon them on the road.

We aren't going to win pretty, but we can win gritty. If we get goals in games three and four, they're going to come from pure hustle, and maybe a little luck.
