Guest bullocks Report post Posted May 18, 2007 Well, just finished watching the game after listening to it on the radio. Wow did we dominate or what? We were clearly the superior team out there tonight and it’s so shattering we’re not up 3-1. Pretty much everyone had strong games, except I didn’t notice Franzen too much tonight. Filppula made two great moves and was extremely unlucky not to score. Zetterberg was flying in the 3rd period, and Cleary and Bertuzzi were great all night. Giguere stole this game for Anaheim and considering we dominated, I’m not overly worried heading into Game 5. If only we capitalised on those 5-on-3’s. i guess it doesnt matter if were the superior team...it's like, it's almost better if were not...i mean we won game 1 and didn't play that good at all. i guess this just evens that out. franzen didnt play good at all. datsyuk had one of his weaker games. filppula was amazing, to bad he rang that off the cross bar. cleary and tuzzi played nice...zetterberg showed up in the 3rd. Hank amazes me with how he can carry the puck, and cycle so well. He's dominating out there. All that and he's not even 100% healthy. He is the man. Plain and simple. redwingsgirl 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 Tonight Ducks were basically playing an elimination game, while Detroit was coming off a 5-0 easy win and coming into game 4 without Pronger. They didn't start with the urgency we would have liked. Very nicely put. It was clear the Ducks were playing for their life - they came out with "it" and took the first goal. redwingsgirl 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 Let the razzing begin: Received this email from my brother already, but then again, "his bulls" got eliminated tonight and the only Detroit team he cheers for is the Lions. "BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coach Gordan Bombay was spoted at the Honda Center during last nights victory over the Detoriot Red Wings. He was seen running up and down the aisles with a duck call. The duck players must have seen this and this and immediatly started playing better. This leads leads to speculation that Coach Bombay will be at Joe Louis Arena during Sunday's game. It is rumored that he will drop Duck logo's over all the Red Wings logo's to pump up the ducks, and to show how the Ducks own the Red Wings in this series. It is also rumored that Hans gave the team a pep talk before the game and before the third period. Is he going to be the X-factor in this series? Only time will tell. Is this where the ducks grow their wings and learn how to fly? I think so, i think so. DUCKS WIN! DUCKS WIN!"

My favorite band is going to be at Freedom Hill that same night and while I will choose the Wings over them this start makes it better because the concert isn't till 6:30ish and my fave band is coming out last as they are the headliners. klsjgjsgs woo im relieved. He hates all Detroit teams *except the Pistons* but whatever. He picked the Flames and Sharks to win and well I had the last laugh. You will too. regwinguofmfan 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 So Hasek should look good next game, and like a baffoon the next, and then like a god in game 7. Do I have this right? So the team has to expect that Dom is taking every other game off? LOL

Guest bullocks Report post Posted May 18, 2007 "We were dominating, but the bounces didn't go our way," Hasek said. "They scored on their first shot and they scored on their first power play. "To play without Pronger, I believe, was a great motivation for them, and we didn't use that advantage -- unfortunately." Red Wings veteran defenseman Chris Chelios added: "We had breakdowns defensively. We've got one of the best goalies in the league, if not the best. But we somehow found a way to make him look bad, and we've got to find a way to correct that. "You can say it was bounces or deflections or screens, but you make your own breaks. They worked hard, they were in position and made some plays. "I think both teams realized what was at stake here, and they came out on top."

ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 (edited) i really don't wanna sound like a hater, but to me the main thing that killed this game for us was.....Hasek. I was at the game, and I was astonished, looking at the SOG's......32-18. Almost ever puck shot at him, he had trouble with. No, he didnt play horrible, but most the goals he let in were very weak. The one that really got me was Jackman's goal.....though it was from the slot, it was a weak wrist shot that grazed Hasek's glove and went in......thats not a goal you can let in, especially in the playoffs. I really feel that if he played like he did in game 3, we would have won like 3-1 or something......one thing is for sure though.....Jiggy sure brought his A game. I don't wanna sound like I'm making excuses, cause the Ducks came out minus their star defenseman and played a great game but I really feel like we did too......Hasek though just wasnt on it tonight. man.....Game 5 feels so far away Edited May 18, 2007 by ShanahanMan

Edge 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 Wow the way some of you sound maybe the Duck's fans were right and we don't deserve to be in this series. All happy to jump on the band wagon when we do good and so quick to pass the blame when we do bad. If I remember right this series is the best of 7 games not the best of 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. So we had a bad night OMFG fire them all, they are still human and have bad nights too. Give credit where credit is due. They had a couple players that hadn't scored in a while and they stepped up and put a couple in the back of the net be it bad goals or not. We didn't get routed either we stepped up and met the challenge we just didn't score as much to bad, we can't win them all. You didn't actually expect them to roll over after they lost Pronger did you? One player doesn't make the team, they still have a good hockey club with out Pronger in the line up. We still have 2 games to win so lets focus on those instead and credit our boys for not giving up.
Pucker 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 I thought it was a good game lastnight. It was fast paced, lots of flow, and had good tempo. Wings lost, but, hey, you can't win 'em all. I things the Wings looked much better on the road, and I hope they can bring it back to the "D". This series REALLY reminds me of the Sharks series. And I wonder now if the Ducks are getting tired. Oh, I think the Wings are much more physical than the Ducks imagined them to be. Seems they are getting injuries now.
FirstSamuel1745 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2007 The only thing to take away from this game is that this whole series, just like every other series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, comes down to the goaltenders. This series is all about Dominik Hasek. If he plays well, they win. If he doesn't, they lose.
