I hope someone gives Hudler one , I want to see that kid score 30 goals ! and he just wont do it here

As long as Babcock is the Wings coach, Hudler will not get a fair chance to score 30 goals. I like Babs but he isn't giving Hudler a fair shot. He just seems to hate him for some reason. What that is, I have no idea.

I know they are only rumors but a name i keep hearing over and over is Thomas Vanek. What kinda of salary is he gonna command after his great year? Do you think teams will use him as leverage to be able to sign either Briere or Drury? What i mean is, if a team offers him 3.5 mil and Buffalo matches are they then in a position of having to let one of those two go. Or are the Sabres in a position where no matter what happens one of those 3 will not be back? Is there any other players that might command an offer sheet? I know this doesn't directly affect the Wings, but could they afford to part with picks to land some quality talent like Vanek? Or is the price simply too much?

it is llikely from what i read that buffalo will sign either drury or breire and keep vanek

i think the wings are setup to make a trade they have so many of the same type of forwards

I agree we should trade Hudler for a big winger and/or an enforcer. But Holland does not make many trades in the off season or during the season. He usually waits until the Trade Deadline to fill holes after he is done looking at the UFA's in the summer.

I don't want the Wings to just give Hudler away. But I agree. We have too many of the same type of player and we need some more balance. Getting Franzen and Cleary has helped some. This is why keeping Bert is important. We need his size and strength to go along with his scoring ability. He is hard to play against and gives us another dimension in our attack.

My personal opinion is that an offer sheet for someone else's RFA is never worth it. All you are accomplishing is driving up the price.

 You gotta just leave supply and demand alone and let it work itself out.

I agree that Bab's needs to give Hud's more time (time=scoring opportunities). Just because Babcock sits Hulder doesn't mean Babcock"hates" Hudler. Perhaps Hudler needed somemore time to develop (time=development, too :D ) I agree that the kid is sick and needs more time, lets just see how this plays out.

Offer sheets only accomplish one thing: Majorly overpaying a player, and basically calling it now that he'll have a bad season. Case and Point: Ryan Kesler.

Nothing against Ryan Kesler either, but he's not a near 3 million player. Guys like Tomas Vanek will really be up in the high end of the stick, and I really don't want the Wings to be part of it. It makes us look bad.

Just for the record Wings cannot make an offer sheet to anyone because before you make that offer you must own the draft picks it willcost you.. I believe we traded those away and if we sign Todd we lose another pick in 2008.
