He's actually a pretty decent all around solid d-man. It's unfortunate with what happened in the last game, and im sure he feels lower than low. I feel awful for the guy. Yep, because outside of their one playoff blunder, they both have had such horrible careers. Should be in the minor leagues, you know? God damn it. I'm so tired of people always going on about "Oh, Steve Smith sucks 'cause he scored on his own net!!!!!!!!11". It was purely accidental. Besides that, he still had a decent career after that incident, playing up until the mid to late 90's. He's wasn't a bad player. Same goes for Phillips. Chris Phillips was a guy that I really wanted the Wings to go after until Ottawa gave him an extension. His one mistake doesn't make him a bad player. People need to start figuring this out. He doesn't look it on tv but he's got great size, we all know he can skate, he has been a selke finalist I believe and he's almost a lock for 20 goals a year even when he misses time with injury. Oh yeah, plus he hits and is a pretty darn good fighter too. He doesn't do it much but he showed against Getzlaf just how strong he is by throwing him to the ice, reminded me of what he did to big Michal Handzus when he pummelled his ass during that Ottawa/Philly brawl a few season back.
