eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 13, 2007 I don't understand why the Leafs would re-sign him. Look at all the UFA's this off season. It would have been a lot better for them to use that money to lock up a Drury, Smyth, Briere, etc. for 4 or 5 years instead of bringing back Sundin. The Leafs should have traded Matt's at the deadline last year, instead they are going to get nothing for him. Plus they are stuck with Kaberle's, McCabe's, and Kubina's contracts. The Leafs are a joke! Yeah, the Wings should have traded that washed up bum Yzerman at the deadline in 2002, too. I mean, he was coming up on the end of his contract, he was clearly past his prime and overpaid, and the Wings could have spent his money on someone younger who might have actually shown up in the playoffs! /sarcasm

Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 13, 2007 He could be very tradeable at the deadline, if the Leafs are sucking next season. NTC is just nothing, if he'll have a chance to win cup somewhere. And I think the Leafs will suck, and Sundin could be that RIGHT HANDNESS piece that is missing from our team. Just think what an upgrade he could be over Lang. As Lang will not be playing here next year, I fail to see the relevance of this comment. I don't understand why the Leafs would re-sign him. Look at all the UFA's this off season. The Leafs are a joke! Leafs would re-sign him cuz he's their leader, class act, and still a point a game producer with literally no one to help him. Sure there's Drury, Briere, and Smyth avalible...but 29 other teams will be bidding for them as well. Leafs screwed up when they re-signed McCabe, not Sundin. Kaberle is a very good defensemen and is worth every penny btw.

The Leafs are a joke! That's pathetic. Most hockey fans and their grandmothers know that Sundin is the face of the franchise. Give him a decent winger to play with, and he's just as good, if not better, than all of the names you just mentioned. Getting rid of him is the joke, not keeping him.
