Not surprising to me being in Ohio and having been to Nationwide plenty of times.

Just thought i'd toss this in as some tend to think Columbus is not a good hockey city (on what basis I have no idea).

I was there at the draft and they did not boo Yzerman. The crowd definitely booed Wings management as they were making their way to the stage and even started loudly chanting "Red Wings Suck." However when Yzerman got to the podium, the crowd applauded Yzerman (but no standing ovation or anything like what Gretzky received).

i dont think they were booing yzerman , it was more booing the wings since were a division rival

I didn't say this year, next year or in a trillion years. I'm taking a relatively safe bet by saying that they'll make the playoffs someday, okay.

As for the booing and that having to do anything with being a "hockey city", get off your high horses already people. They were booing the Wings, not Stevie personally. The Jackets want to emulate us, we're the model for a great organization and the booing is b/c we're their biggest rival. Do you think the Wings and Stevie would get a standing ovation in the Pepsi center? Does that make Colorado not a hockey city? Jeez, anybody disses on the Wings and some of you can't take it. Grow some skin and stop being whiny, little *******.

I figured that with Columbus being so close I could drive down there with a friend. We had a good time and the Columbus fans are good hockey fans (and that kills me to say since I go to U of M).

Sure they have. They've failed to make any sort of impact in the standings despite top-ten drafting for several years.

It's frustrating! Its a nice arena to see games in, but I only go to see the Wings. I've tries rooting for my local team, but the disappointment is just too strong.

Ya i would boo the team that has been kicking their butt since they joined the NHL. who cares, its just good to see some support from the blue jackets camp
