Any news of Grigorenko?

He's not a Ranger. He is expected to come here and play in GR this season, and may even be called up if someone gets injured. He has a $800,000+ deal with the Wings for this season and is off-limits to other teams unless the Wings package him in a deal (doubtful since he seems to be the #1 offensive prospect).

HE IS NOT A RANGER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO BE!

hes not gonna be called up , if he goes to grand rapids hes got 2 weeks or will be going back to russia , my plan for him is he comes here and plays great , unless babcock and his boring defensive style puts him to sleep and he just says f this and goes back to russia lol, i hope he sticks around and gets a 15-25 goal season , we'll see what happens

...it is my understanding that Grigs has to be on the big club or he can opt back to Russia. So I would assume that means he is guaranteed a roster spot for this upcoming season. Either way, he will be a Red Wing. If this guy is not yet 100% he still is better than most other Russian prospects out there, he may not have the effect that Fedorov had on the league, he may not be as effective as Datsyuk, but, he will be effective, unless, like someone mentioned, Babcock uses him in ways that hinder his talent. This is why we need to give Larioov ANY amount of money he wants to come here and be our coach. I seriously think Babcock is the reason we failed last season, and the season before last. He's a good coach, but doesn't utilize his talent in the correct way...

Grigorenko has a one-year, two-way contract that will pay him $858,900 next season if he's with the Wings, $70,000 if he's in Grand Rapids.

If he spends more than three weeks with the Griffins he can opt to return to Russia. In a web interview on the Lada Togliatta web site (6/28), Grigorenko was very excited to be finally getting a chance to play in the NHL and fully intends on making the Red Wings' roster out of camp.

When asked about the possibility (probability?) of making more than the $859K the Wings are shelling out for him next season if Grigorenko had opted to sign with a Russian team (he had several offers after his Lada contract expired), he said that "money wasn't the predominating factor, I want to play in the NHL."

He'll be attending the Wings' Rookie Orientation/Conditioning camp later this week. Then training camp in September. He's signed and fully committed at taking a crack at one of the three 2nd line spots open.
