I have Directv with Center Ice and the HD Package. I got 8 games on HDNet last year (Channel 79). It looks like there will only be three this year. Center Ice is not required for these games but the HD package is.

Aside from those, I got approx. 16 other games in HD either on channels 94, 95 or 98 or on my off air antenna. Most Versus games are shown in HD on 94. NBC games are usually in HD but I got those with my off air antenna. Directv is changing their HD stuff so I expect we will see a lot more HD games this year, but you may need the 5 LNB dish.

As a side note, if you like all sports, always check channels 94/95 because games show up there sometimes even if you don't have the package. I just saw the Tigers/Yankees the other night in HD and don't have extra innings.

Also, I am out of market for Detroit. In Detroit I have no idea.

Apparently there's a interwebs version of Center Ice, which I'm considering trying out, but I don't know enough information. I've had Center Ice on TV for the last 5 or so seasons (not including lockout obviously), and it would be nice if I could take it on the road as I'll be spending a lot more time at school this upcoming semester.

Speaking from the last 2 years' experience.

Comcast does not offer the Center Ice package in HD at all.

Any HD games you catch will be from other networks outside of CI. (Vs., HDNet, NBC, etc etc)

All having CI with a plasma will do is piss you off at the crappy regular definition picture. ;)

I have a HD TV and only a couple of the games are able to be viewed in HD (even though they're broadcasted in it). Like others have said, HD Net shows a couple once every blue moon.

You'll get the NBC games in HD, as well as Versus if you get that network in HD (generally by paying extra for it), but other than that, the coverage is pretty thin.

Time Warner HD with Center Ice here.

We don't get Versus HD, so that sucks.

We only get NBC HD games. Not even MSG HD for Sabres games.

Standard definition feeds from Center Ice are HORRIBLE.

I have Centre Ice through Bell Express Vu and I'd say there's at least 1-3 HD games shown a night. All of the Coyotes and Avs home games are HD and a great majority of Pens games are too. And if I'm not mistaken all Wings home games (or most) are in HD as well.

I have to warn you though, once you watch hockey in HD (or any sport really) it's so hard to go back. I was so angry with the CBC because they didn't show all of the Wings games in HD in their series against the Flames. Of course they save that for the Sens games. Stupid CBC. They're always screwing over their Western brethern to appease the Ontario (and mostly Leaf) audience.
