Seems kinda strange for him to do that, he seemed to have a bright future ahead of him. I can still remember him scoring twice against the Wings this past year, in the reg. season and the tying goal in Game 3.

it's not like we'd offer him that much but surly another team could have offered him that for a future 3rd or 4th pairing D man.

I am guessing here, but I am assuming he wanted consistent minutes to prove himself. The Flame offered him a two way deal, which probably meant to him that he would not have the same D partners the whole season and is probably hoping that a consistent good year in Russia will have scouts wanting him back. He is still young so hopefully this works for him.

he showed some good prowess on the ice, hes still young though. Hopefully he is able to prove himself in russia and comes back here under his full potential

I think its more about the playing time then the money. Right now hes like the 7-8 defenceman. I guess he feels a year in the RSL will benifit him more than the minors.
