FunkedUp 29 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 I think they should play a game in northern europe. Norway, Sweden, and Finland would eat up NHL tickets if a team came out there. Red Wings in Stockholm. Seems to be a sure sellout and fan-favorite to me. Maybe another year?
LIDDYGIBBY5 1 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 If I were an owner I would be very unhappy about playing a game overseas. How much money would you lose on tickets, parking, TV, memoribilia, food, and drink. Not to mention the loss to the teams home city from fewer people using hotels, restaurants, taxis and the such. I can't say that I would be all for this. Let's grow the game here and not worry about eastern Europe.

I have to imagine that the owners of the Kings and Ducks were compensated for these types of losses. I wouldn't be surprised if they are netting more money this way than if they played the games at home.

MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 Running out of time for that to happen though. With no certainty that Sundin will play next year, the NHL would never commit to it.
