Rob the Badger 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 everytime a player gets penalized they go up to the official and say that they didn't do anything. is there any point to this? take this scenario for an example: chris chelios is trying to defend the net against mike modano, as mike modano skates by chris chelios, chelios sticks out his stick and trips up mike modano. the referee sees this and puts his hand up to call a penalty on chris. chris goes to the ref and acts like nothing happend. whats the point? also, a penalty whistle can only be blown when a member of the offending team possess the puck with their stick, right? what would stop chris chelios from just arching his back and laying around the puck in mid ice. he would not touch the puck and he would make it so the puck is still visible. it would be an easy way to kill off the rest of the time in the game if the red wings already had the lead. Man, I hate to even entertain you at all but why not. Why do they argue? It's called politicking. Scotty Bowman bitched and moaned more than any coach I ever saw. And every single time he complained, it wasn't to overturn the call, it was to get into the referees head that he owes us one. Scotty was the master of it and that's why players and coaches do it. It isn't for that call, its for the next call. Of course this is not the same as the player who just disagrees with the call and can't shut up. There's strategy to arguing calls and then there's just sour grapes.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) Why does Chris Chelios appeal to the refs? Because he's Chris Chelios. Chris Chelios does whatever Chris Chelios wants to do. That's how Chris Chelios rolls. sirdrake, I thought you, the biggest Chris Chelios fan of all Chris Chelios fan's, would understand this. I'm shocked and utterly disappointed that you did not. Nevertheless, your true devotion as the #1 Chris Chelios fan of all Chris Chelios fan's is still unpassed. Chris Chelios appreciates that you like Chris Chelios so much, and he is sickened by the fact that Osgood stole his name. Chris Chelios is obviously unhappy, as Chris Chelios so very be the only "Chris" on the Wings. Give Chris Chelios a call, sirdrake. It will brighten up the day of Chris Chelios, seeing as it would be a call from the #1 Chris Chelios fan in the world of Chris Chelios fan's.
