lfd250 1 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 ALLEN PARK -- For the second time in three games this season, the Detroit Lions have gotten an extension from the NFL to get a sellout for a home game in order to lift the blackout for local television. The NFL gave the Lions a 24-hour extension Thursday, with what a team official said was "several hundred" tickets unsold for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay at Ford Field. The tickets must be sold by 1 p.m. Friday to lift the blackout. The Lions also needed a 24-hour extension for the home opener against Minnesota. The regular limit is 72 hours before kickoff. I know it's the lions, but hey someone better push the panic button

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) Have the Lions only recently struggled with attendance? I'm not trying to be rude, but they haven't exactly sparked much fan interest with their play over the past decade until this year? Obviously, I'm out of the loop seeing as that I live in Green Bay and cheer for the Packers, but I was just wondering if someone could shed some light on the situation for non-Michigan residents. BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 It's a fairly common practice in the NFL to do this if needed. And, despite the common misconception, the Lions don't sell out every game. At least according to ESPN.com who has them averaging about 95% capacity for the last 5 years.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'm seriously not trying to rub this in, but for those of you who thought a couple years ago that the Red Wings tickets were hard to get, check this out. I signed up last week, so I should have my season tickets by 3074! Be The 74,659th In Line!
Guest jaytan Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Pretty much anybody in the NFL will sell out, or get close to it. It helps that they've been building the stadiums smaller now in order to avoid the blackouts (the Lions new building's about 15,000 seats smaller than the Silverdome). Jwo 7 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 (edited) I hope the game does not sell out. It will ease the pain when they go on their losing record starting Sunday. I do not see this team have what it takes to go past 3 wins. Edited October 19, 2007 by Jwo

I do not see this team have what it takes to go past 3 wins. Ok yeah maybe they don't win on sunday. I understand that. But to say they wont win even one more game all year is pretty far off. I have very little faith in the Lions having success this season. But Im sure the hell not gonna say they will lose every game for the rest of the year. They will most definitely get past 3 wins. No doubt about that.
