SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 After having problems with NHL Center Ice on my TV the past few games (along with having to fight for TV time every now and then when games are on), I decided to give it the finger and order NHL Center Ice Online. Online video feeds are going to be far from perfect, but I'm not all that hard to please, watching a game in crappy quality or black/white TV is better than no TV, and I tuned into game action for the first time last night online and I liked it a good bit. Especially like where you can watch 4 games at the same time if your eyes are fast enough. Won't use this feature all that much as I'm busy during the week, but it'll get me paying attention to other teams to a certain degree, versus when I just had NHL Center Ice on TV the past 2 years and rarely watched games outside of the Red Wings cause I was only limited to one game on the screen. Looks to be well worth the $169 spent, and it's better this way actually. Don't ever have to fight for the remote and I if I feel like going out during games I can bring my laptop to a bar/restaurant and enjoy 'self. Yep, I read and am aware of that rebate stuff where you can have NHL Center Ice on TV and Online at a reduced rate, but I'm just going with online (have Versus on my regular TV so that's covered). I love Centet Ice Online, they still have some work to do as far as how long it takes them to upload games on-demand, but hopefully I don't have to spend the whole season waiting a week to see a game again/i missed. As far as the video rez, I don't have a problem with it, when I am on Campus I watch full screen while I do work, and when I'm home I run S-Video and Y-audio cables (combined $30 at Best Buy) from my laptop to my TV and I don't really notice the difference between that and regular cable feed. I definately suggest people look into it if you spend a lot of time elsewhere and don't want to miss a game, or if you want the games on-deman feature. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted October 27, 2007 (edited) You still living with your parents? Just messin' with ya...How about buying another TV? Yes/no in a way actually, kinda a weird goofy situation. I moved back home after college and it took me a while to find work, I was living with them at the time and still did thereafter I got employed to save up money.....then Hurricane Katrina happened. Long/short of it where I currently live we got our property fixed up, my parents brought another property after the storm hit and live there for the most part. The other owned property, where I stay at, the mortgage for it was already paid off before Katrina hit, and I live here by myself not all of the time but most of it, but they still come in every now and then like once a week. As much as I want my own place technically, makes sense for me to stay here right now as I like my job, I like it here, I live by myself for the most part, they live there for the most part, and I save money this way. I can deal with the annoyance of them coming over every now and then (can't really tell them NOT to since it's technically their property ). It doesn't really piss me off all that much anyways. Make sense now? We have more than 1 TV in here, but the Center Ice feed could only work with one TV in the main living area, so... Even with Center Ice not really working on the TV, it works well this way whenever they are in, I always can watch my games and all that crap. Good rubbing-in and feel free to make fun of me some more. Let me know how it works out for you SWF. I'll be curious to read what you have to post about it. Last night was good during the early evening. Again, it's not as good as what you would see on TV, but it's far from crappy and it's way better than nothing. If you want to watch 4 games at once, you can only listen to the sound of 1 of the 4 games, and you have to look pretty closely at your monitor, but it's still 4 games all at once in a close-up view. And you can enlarge the screen of any of the games you are watching. Don't know if I can tune in tonight, but I'll be tuning in for Sunday night's game and I might garner in to the earlier evening games as well. It works for me as I'm not in a hockey market.....since I got wireless Internet so I can watch at home or can go somewhere else to watch it with Internet access without hounding restarauant or bar managers to give me weird looks for putting on a hockey game. There's one bar that's a pretty good one actually that will put on hockey games every now and then, they have NHL Center Ice with Direct TV, but I don't go there that much to begin with. I got into watching games online last year actually with my alma mater when I could get most of there football games online when they weren't on TV and it worked out well for me there too. Respectable screen quality, etc. Edited October 27, 2007 by SouthernWingsFan

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 Are there still those blackouts like the free preview had? There were always other non-Wings games that were blacked out for whatever reason. I can understand the local team not being shown on there, but why blackouts for other teams? If its still like that then screw it, im not spending 169 bucks only to find out the game i wanna watch isnt being shown.
