osiris99 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Yeah, sure. He'd make us better.... The guy couldn't even make Calgary's lineup, and no other team in the league wants him either. How much more obvious does it have to be? His NHL playing career is over. Yes, well said and agreed. He is and SHOULD be done. No pity for him, he lived a dream and shoudl have made the best of it. Guest jaytan Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Maybe he should go on the public speaking circuit. Or have someone ghostwrite an autobiography for him.

Inultus 12 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 I absolutely love McCarty and we he was my favorite player while he played for us. I agree that bringing him back would cause a huge stir of emotion in Detroit and help us sell more seats. However, I think it's pretty clear that it would be detrimental to our team's success to have him play, even in a limited capacity. For those saying replace Drake with McCarty...Drake at least had 1 point in 17 games, McCarty had no points in almost twice that amount of game. Enough said. Sepster 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 Let's say McCarty is cleared to play and comes back to the Wings, what possibly makes people think that he won't be hurt again? We're talking about a player that missed more than 25% of the games he was eligible to play in due to injury. For some perspective, consider that between the time he came into the league ('93-'94) until ('05-'06) he missed more games than Steve Yzerman did due to injury, and that includes all of Yzerman's knee, neck, back and groin injuries. During that time period out of a possible 947 regular season games McCarty missed 237 games, Yzerman 190... pretty telling considering Yzerman kissed an entire season after his knee surgery. I seriusly doubt McCarty would come close to being healthy enough to make it through a seaon or be around come playoff time.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 It would take a massive transformation for McCarty before I would ever want him back on the team. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but he'd have to get healthy, then get his act together. Then maybe it's worth the Wings offering him a contract like Drake's.
