The Noodle 39 14 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Cheli can handle it. Does everyone else live in fear of something happening to Lidstrom? I know I do... heak yea. Lidstrom always plays. And has been anchoring our D since he basically started playing with us. If something serious ever happened to him our season is out the window IMO. Also whenever Lids takes a hit i cringe... oldredbarnman 13 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 What if it was Lidstrom? You want to risk further injury to our most important player? Sit him out 1 game. Chelios can more than handle it. Just remember, Nick is 37, 38 next April, plays 25+ minutes a game. Not smart coaching decision in my mind, if it were severe enough.
96warrior 11 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/ Lidstrom shakes off hip flexor injury to play Posted by George James Malik December 11, 2007 08:20AM Detroit Red Wings Captain Nicklas Lidstrom played through what can be an extremely painful injury against the Nashville Predators, but looked to be no worse for wear, posting 3 shots and registering a takeaway while racking up his usual half-a-game's worth of ice time: December 11, Detroit Free Press: Team captain and iron man Nicklas Lidstrom was bothered enough by a left hip flexor to prompt the team to bring Chris Chelios, who had been slated to be off Monday, along on the trip. But after the morning skate Lidstrom told the team he felt fine, something he backed up later in the day by playing 29:17, 8:09 of it while the Wings were short-handed, in a 2-1 victory over Nashville at Sommet Center. In 15-plus seasons, Lidstrom, 37, has missed just 22 games. His continued good health left Chelios was a healthy scratch, which suits the Wings just fine. Babcock would like to not have Chelios, 46 next month, play in back-to-back situations. Derek Meech subbed in for Chelios, playing 6:46. As for the Wings' other injured players, we'll probably know more about Kirk Maltby's situation on Tuesday afternoon as he saw a back specialist on Monday: December 11, Detroit News: Babcock said there was no update on Draper (sprained left knee) or Maltby (lower back). The situation with Maltby's injury, said Babcock, has gone from a day-to-day situation to week-to-week. The cause of Maltby's discomfort hasn't been determined
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Pretty funny that before the game Babs says, "No, no, no" in response to a question about whether it was Lidstrom. Then, after the game... we find out it's Lidstrom.
Opie 308 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I had a hip flexor injury the summer before my senior year in high school (wow that was a while ago), it can be very painful. Depending on how it happens movement can hurt to move in any direction also sitting has to be the most painful part of the injury. I can't imagine what sitting on that crappy wooden bench must have felt like for him.

Depending on how it happens movement can hurt to move in any direction also sitting has to be the most painful part of the injury. I can't imagine what sitting on that crappy wooden bench must have felt like for him. Maybe that's why he played so many minutes, so he didn't have to sit as much. 2probert4 8 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 hopefully Cheli will play, they seem to love him down in nashville also: nashville has my favorite chant in all the league "chelios is a bay-bee" wow theyve had that cheer for 8 or 9 years now, almost as much history as that original <insert goalie name repeat 3 times> then yell YOU SUCK
Booster313 138 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 In a weird kidna way i kinda hope its lids who is the one injured for 1 reason. to see how our team plays against adversity. It sounds minor so its the only reason im hoping its lids. Are you nuts!? Who wishes that their star defensmen can be injured. Is your signature going to include an anti-Lids campaign soon too? chelios4eva 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2007 Are you nuts!? Who wishes that their star defensmen can be injured. Is your signature going to include an anti-Lids campaign soon too? I kinda agree with him, I mean if its really minor, only gonna be gone day-to-day, and it won't lead to other injuries, it could kinda help us, we've got first place in the league and I believe that we are 8 points or so ahead of ottawa who is second place, just to see how well we can do with out a star player, so we won't have to rely on one guy can't hurt that bad could it? I'm not saying I wish for him to be injured, cause I'm not, I'm just saying I wanna see how we'd do without lids, just to seee how big a trouble we'd be if we didn't have him.. is all
