we and my pops go to the 2 wings games in phoenix every year. each year we are amazed and in awe and the sea of red (not maroon) in the crowd. and each time, without fail, some dip s*** coyote fan gets crazy. whats with these guys? is it the blistering sun?? even gretzkey was pissed last night. after dats goal you could tell he was fumed. when pavel broke away, every wings fan was on their toes, only to be floored by the deke and stop-on-a-dime move by him. we are truly blessed to have such a great team, with great leaders, no dirty assholes, and enormous talent. go ozzie i think you are this years MVP

I personally have a bad history with fans in Nashville. I've had everything from snowballs to half-filled beers thrown at me solely for having a Red Wings jersey on in various road trips down there.

I have the same problem with Sharks fans... I call them "Raiders fans, but with money"... a bunch of uneducated jerks. Plus ticket prices are getting too damn high now... it is like $500 for 4 of us to go, without food and beer!

Me too. Of all the places where I've attended Wings games, Nashville is the worst. Worse than Colorado. I posted something similar to this in another thread where a member here attended a game there the other night. It's pretty common to hear "Detroit sucks" or "Red Wings suck" at away games. Still Nashville is the worst.

Don't feel alone the Titans fans act that way also. The Predator fans have this idea that the Wings vs Preds is some sort of blood rivalry, not sure why. I've been hit with beer bottles,(Ive thrown them back) Ive had Wings suck written on my vehicle (soap, so it came off easily).. Wings have won a large majority of the games played and won the only playoff matchup.

I live in the Philadephia area, and go to the games there whenever they host the red wings, which unfortunately is not very often. Well as you may know, the history between these two teams the last 5 or so years, is that the home team seems to always win. Unfortunately for me that means that I have to go to the game to see the flyers beat the red wings, which is the worst. Well last year I thought was our best chance or at least the most uneven matchup between these two teams in the last 5-10 years, so I thought for sure we were going to win. Well needless to say, the flyers blew out the red wings, and I was kicked from the game for yelling things to the team, and arguing with the crowd.

But yes, flyers fans are also pretty brutal. Every game I go to I almost get in a fight for wearing a red wings jersey.

Never had a problem with Preds fans, but will admit only have been once. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Exp right down the road from the arena and drove around with window decals that stated we were from hockeytown. Never had a problem at the game. Granted I am a big guy. Funny we spent the weekend and went all around town and said we were from MI for the Hockey game and we got the funniest faces. Hockey? What's that? This is their biggest problem, not wings fans.

I also live in the Philly area and have pretty much been to every Flyers/Wings games since I was little. To tell you the truth I have never really been given a hard time by the Flyers fans, whether it be at my seat, in the concourse, or walking to/from the car. I do see other Wings fans given a hard time, but that tends to happen after the Wings score a goal and they start talking trash. For those that stand up, clap for a goal and then sit down without talking trash don't have problems with the fans. I also have Flyers season tickets so I see all kinds of fans from other teams at the arenas and the only people I give it to are those fans that taunt.

On a side note I got the worst heckling at Boston and Long Island and going to a Caps game is fantastic because it is like being at the Joe because there are so many friggin Wings fans there.

I get a lot of crap attending Wings games in Edmonton and Calgary. The Calgary fans seem to have settled down this year. Probably has something to do with the beating we gave them in the opening round last year. The Oiler fans like to bring up the first round from a couple years ago. Usually reminding them that most of that team is now elsewhere and Dwayne Roloson is a backup goalie that happened to get hot at the right time shuts them up.

I get tired of hearing the Red Wings Suck chants. That is one thing you will rarely hear at the Joe. I take pride that as Wings fans we have more class then to do that. I'm not saying fans have never done it, but it's not a common thing to hear at the Joe, unlike at Nashville or St. Louis. And I have rarely scene anyone hassling other fans at the Joe.

Wings fans are #1!!! :siren::D:thumbup:

You thought Gretzky was pissed after the Datsyuk goal? I didn't notice that.

I didn't know they had any fans down there. But what to do you expect? Those fans don't know s*** about hockey, so they just show off their NASCAR IQ by throwing beers.

Hey, right about now I'd love to hear any chants at the Joe, just to know that the fans are still awake and the arena is somewhat full.

What do you mean by "get's crazy"? I lived in AZ for 22 years and will be the first to tell you hockey fans are few and far between. The lack of hockey knowledge at games is certainly painful (that happens here in CO too). But the most obnoxious fans I saw at any Coyotes games were the visiting fans talking trash.

Saint Louis is simply annoying. Wings can be leading 10-0, in first place, etc, etc (hey just like the other day) and as Blues fans leave with most of a period still to go they all walk out saying "Red Wings suck!" It's pretty sad. The "greatest fans in the world" attitude coming over from the baseball crowd infects hockey too. A little class now and then would make them good fans, but never the greatest fans.

Meanwhile at the recent Blues-Wings game, the fellow Wings fans around me simply applauded when the Wings scored and we all gave a little hand wave to Legace when he was pulled. Never said "Blues suck" or any profanity filled rant around kids. Wish the Blues crowd could do the same.
