sibiriak 84 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Adam Foote was a healthy scratch in tonight's Jackets-Coyotes game. That usually happens when the deal for that player is just about done.

Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 and the Wings just had some reps there didn't they? So did about 7 other teams. Columbus expressed interest in not trading within the Central Division. Besides that, why would they trade with a divisional opponent when their still in the hunt for the playoffs?
daniel1 32 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 and the Wings just had some reps there didn't they? Foote would be sweet. He can have turnover's spot, er I mean Lebda's spot.
Yzermaniac192005 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Foote?? do we remember the last time a former Avs D-man came here? ....lol Nah in all honesty, he'd be a great addition, I think he's a great d-man and would help solidify our blueline even more. That being said, just b/c he sat out doesn't meant thats a guarantee he'll be traded obviously, he might be ailing a lil - no reason to tell the media something that he'll be over in a day or two. Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 ...shouldn't be much considering his status at the end of the season if he isn't signed. Even though teams try to get something for upcoming UFA's they cannot expect too much from anyone because they could just wait until July 1 and give him an offer. Then again, if you want him badly enough you could make a great offer in order to get him... ...I don't think Nashville would mind trading Dumont to Detroit as much as Detroit would hate to give them someone with high potential, possibly making the better again. Right now, Nashville blows, last year they were right there with us. One or two of the right players and they could be there again, I don't think Detroit wants to cut their own throat that way. If they are interested in Dumont, they will likely wait until July 1... What sense would that make, If the Wings are looking for a depth player for the playoffs it wouldn't do them much good to pick him up after the playoffs are over. Maybe I missed your point here? There is always a chance that the players you give up could come back to bite you, after all, you did have them on your team for a reason. But that is the nature of the beast, you've got to give to get thats why they call it a trade. But what is the difference between giving Nashville players/picks for Dumont and giving Columbus players/picks for Fedorov? Both teams are in the Central Division. Both players are UFA's at seasons end, as of now. We could get a player that has been hot lately and has scored 42 points in 50 games (Dumont). Or we could go the nostalgia route and pick up good 'ole Feds who, as of Feb 23 is on IR, has 27 points in 46 games, has a much higher salary and is nine years older. For not really all that much more.
hckypete96 3 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 I think Darcy Tucker would be a great addition to the wings. I know his numbers aren't great this year but he is the type of forward I think that we need. Toronto is cleaning house and he could be obtained for little. But with 2 yrs left on his contract @ $3.5 mill a yr - no thanks.
Nev 1,085 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 I'm with ya on Tucker. Can't stand the guy tbh, but he is just what we need, but its those 2 yrs left on his contract that will stop it - teams can't eat a traded players salary till next year IIRC, which is a damn shame. For me, we need 2 things urgently, and 1 nice-to-have. Big, physical D-man. Clearly this is coming down to Blake or Foote. Blake has more offensive upside, would be great on the 2nd PP unit (Righty as well) and will be more availiable (LA out of playoff contention, non-divisional) Foote has more physical upside, but is at a divisional rival who are still in playoff contention. Physical winger who can score a few goals We're not looking for the 2nd coming of Cam Neely here. Just someone who can bang a few bodies, maybe drop the gloves occasionally, and capable of 2nd-line duties - maybe 10-15 goals a season. The aforementioned Tucker, or Raffi Torres would be ideal here. Nice to have would be a 4th line center, add a bit of depth and experience. Fedorov would be a dream, Peca would be nice. Interested to see Stoll is being mentioned as on the block in Edmonton - great face-off guy, again would be ideal on the 4th line. The biggest problem is that atm only 1 team is OUT of playoff contention (LA). Even TB are only 9pts out of the playoffs. We'll have to wait another 3 weeks I guess to see who really will be a seller at the trade deadline, because right now there are a lot of potential buyers. Expendables - Sammy, Hudler, one of Kindl/Ericsson.
up2here 41 Report post Posted January 30, 2008 If Forsberg returns, HE WILL SIGN WITH THE FLYERS. Please give up any hope of him going to Detroit. IF Forbserg returns, theres talk of Philly trading Knuble, and apparently he would come pretty cheap. I can see Detroit going that route a lot more than I can see them going the Hossa/Sundin/Prospal/Dumont route. If we could get our hands on Knuble, Id lke to see Sammy traded. These are some of the moves that come to mind: To Det: Sundin/Hossa To ATL/TOR: Hudler, Kindl/Ericsson/Quincey, 1st, 2nd/3rd To Det: Blake To LA: 1st rounder + 2 prospects/1 prospect and Quincey/Sammy To Det: Knuble To PHI: Meech, 2nd To Det: Dumont To Nash: 1st rounder, Quincey/Sammy/Abdelkader, 5th rounder To Det: Propsal To CBJ: 1st rounder, Quincey/Sammy/Abdelkader To Det: Foote To CBJ: 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, Quincey To Det: Vrbata To PHX: Quincey, 2nd rounder, 5th rounder To Det: Ryder To MTL: 2nd, Meech/Quincey To Det: Gratton/Lapointe To TBL/Chi: 3rd rounder To Det: Orpik/Gill/Carney To Pit/Tor/Min: 2nd rounder To Det: Fedorov/Afinogenov/Jagr To CBJ/BUF: No clue what their value is right now Another option that I think might be flying under the radar right now is Camalleri. I think they pretty much expect him to book it after this season, and Id heard they might package him with some deadline bait to land a big return. Some good ideas there but Cammalleri is under contract through next season so you can forget him. I am also for a bigger more physical defenseman but we have to make sure he can play in our system, like be able to skate considerably faster than me,which some of these guy clearly cant. i.e Hal Gill.
