Guest octopusdank Report post Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) you know how we always go crazy for a ducks post, or how heated a GDT can get with discussion of pros and cons going into the game. what do you think other teaams fear about us the most? do they say oh s*** hasek and osgood are coming, or are they frightened of the small russian, and the alley dog canadian? and most of all, does lidstrom induce pants crapping?? egroen 384 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) I check out other forums and there is a healthy respect of the Red Wings out there... especialy a "How the heck do they do it? (stay at the top year-in-and-year-out)" mentality. There is always an acknowledgment that their team will have to play darn near perfect to have a chance at beating the Red Wings. If it is even remotely close, they are happy. It's not a "one man" they fear, but the "Red Wings" as a whole. Ducks' fans are so disgusted with their team right now it is hilarious Edited February 4, 2008 by egroen
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 I think other teams fear the depth more than anything. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are emerging stars who I believe strike a bit of fear into the opposition, but I think for the most part, teams just fear the fact that the Wings are a great "team." You can't simply come in and focus on shutting down a certain player or two. Interesting, with Osgood and Hasek being #1 and #2 in GAA, I really don't think the opposition has a fear of facing the goalie that they would of a Luongo let's say. I may be misguided, but I just don't get that sense.
Cicada 4 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 i often check out the opposing GDT's on other boards... seriously a lot of time it's "i dont mind losins, i expect it, but lets not get blown out..."

egroen 384 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Osgood and Hasek especially are severely underrated--- I see something like, "the Red Wings could dress a monkey, put it in net and still lead the league in GAA" a lot. They do not realize how difficult it is for a goalie that only faces a shot every other minute or two -- if you have ever played goalie, it takes a lot of mental fortitude to remain focused when you are not facing shots consistently and on a roll. Hasek's start of the season alone, disproves the 'monkey' theory.
awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 I know from reading a lot of pre-game quotes from coaches and players from other teams that they tend to dwell on the fact that we are such a great puck possession team. They come into the game knowing that we are going to have the puck for most of it, and I think that tends to put more pressure on them to try and force stuff to happen when they do have the puck. And to answer the question about Lids...I've played hockey pretty much my entire life, and I have always hated going into games when you know that the other team has a real solid defensemen who is going to shut you down almost every time, and I think that has a genuine effect on the way that you play. So just imagine this on a much grander scale in the case of Norris Nick, and I'm sure that a fair share of superstars have elected to strap on a pair of Depends come game day. Yemack 1 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 I probably wouldn't want to goto division rivals' forum. If it's someone like tampa, they would probably go 'damn why play the game, just give them 2 pts and be done with it already' other than that I can guarantee you that 99% of the teams say this before the game 'grind them into submission! play our game! we can win this!'
