Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 7, 2008 no he won't It should be noted that Blake won't be able to assume the posture seen in your avatar for at least another few weeks. Past-prime, injured old deadline acquisitions FTL. Good thing Holland's no idiot. Wanting a player =/= getting him for a price you won't hate.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 7, 2008 For Jokinen? My guess would be something like Kronwall + Filppula + maybe picks and prospects. Considering that this deal would knock Florida out of playoff contention for the next two seasons, and considering the worth of Jokinen as a player, that package is far, far too little to trade for him. This is besides the fact that trading up-and-coming, home-grown roster players is the opposite of Holland's style in the salary cap era (unless you're Jason Williams, who Kronwall and Filppula are not). Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Gee, great--another OP who can't understand the difference between 'want' and 'need.' In what way do we NEED Jokinen? Do you realize that the team we have right now is the best in the league by leaps and bounds? Do we need Jokinen? No. Would we have to give up a lot to get him? Yes. Is there any reason to break up the best team in the league and sell the farm in order to pick up Jokinen? No. Get it now? Suck it up and stop being such a spoiled fan. Fans of every other team in the league would kill to have their teams be where the Wings are right now, and they'd scratch their heads in wonder at those here who are griping and complaining about how we absolutely need to add more talent at the deadline. On another note: Holland will NOT make a big deadline deal this year. He would laugh at the prospect of doing so just as I do here. There is simply no need, and those of you who expect one need to get it through your heads that, in the cap era, the best team in the league.. does.. not.. make.. blockbuster.. deals!!! It's simple logic. The days when we could add firepower at the deadline just for the hell of it and then buy back over the offseason the equivalent or more of what we'd lost in the deal are over. Get over it! how do we need jokinen? a true #2 even a #1 center. a gritty player who's cheap for his value. i'm sorry but going into the playoffs as flip as our #2 center isn't ******* all that great. you think were the best team by leaps and bounds? are u kidding me. were a solid team, but any night calgary, san jose, anaheim, can beat us. ottawa already has beatin us once this year, did u forget about that? did i at any time say holland would make a huge deal at the deadline, no. it's just mearly an opinoin. obviously u clearly woke up today with something stuck up your ass, maybe just how u like it. who gives a f*** who would kill to have a team like the wings right now? the point is to get stronger as the year gets longer - as every other team and us will try to do. get it now? Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Flip would be going for sure, as would one of Kindl or Ericsson. I dont know what Florida's goaltending situation is after Vokoun, but I think you can throw Howard's name in there as well....as Florida might as well trade Vokoun while theyre at it. I could see somewhere like Philly offering a Jeff Carter perhaps, to give them more confidence in there goaltending situation come playoff time. But even then Flip/one of the d-men/ and Howard wont be enough, i think we can just forget about this one folks.

Jokinen notwithstanding, the Wings do need to add something more in the playoffs. A lot of people here are hypothesizing, but only half of them seriosuly think we can get him, which of course we cant. But that doesnt change the fact that we need to fortify this team even more for the grind.
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 I never implied we could get him. But, if we were to go after him, the price would be high and probably worth it.

There are 7 games not 1, also do you really believe that one game really is tells us what would happen against Ottawa, so I guess the Caps would kill the Sens then too?? Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) sounds alot like bertuzzi of last year, any other comments u got smart guy? Let's evaluate the data: Bertuzzi was 32 years old and had scored 71 points the year before. He was not washed out and is still not washed out. We got him for nothing. Blake is 39 years old. He is reaching the end of his career and his production is declining. He had a career-worst season in '06-'07, and he's doing even worse this season. The Kings want a lot for him. To boot, last year we were in an absolute bind for secondary scoring. Williams had not produced since being hit by Torres, Samuelsson was injured, Lang was slumping horribly, Franzen wasn't hot, and Cleary was slumping because of Lang slumping. We signed Bertuzzi for secondary scoring, just as we traded Williams for Calder for that purpose. This year, we are in no great bind whatsoever for a top-two defenseman. It'd be nice, but we are certainly doing very well as-is. The situations are not similar. Have YOU any other comments, "smart" guy? Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) sounds alot like bertuzzi of last year, any other comments u got smart guy? Yes, he is a smart guy. No, our second line is not great, but no team is perfect. We have an AMAZING defensive lineup. We have two OUTSTANDING goaltenders. We have arguably the best top line in the league. We have decent secondary scoring. We have a checking line that is above average, and finally, an enforcer. God damn people, that worst thing you can say about this team is that the secondary scoring is decent. The worst thing you can say about Anaheim is that they're led by Getzlaf and their GM is sending that team back to Disney infested hell. Pick one. Also, acquiring Jokinen would kill us 4-5 years down the road. EDIT: Plus, that cap room is important when Zetterberg is asking for a contract. I'm sure Kenny has the budget planned for the next 5+ years, and an injection of 5 million (soon to be about 7 or 8 million) is not in there. You can tell me the cap will be going up and there will be room, and I say in response: Turn on the news. Edited February 7, 2008 by Earthhuman
