auxlepli 17 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Damn! This CBA sucks. As far as salaries are concerned I bet players are really hating it.

As far as salaries are concerned I bet players are really hating it. yeah think about being able to make up to $10 mil and not hurt your team that much to being capped out at what is it like 7-8 and taking up a decent amount of your teams cap. i do think there are players out there that deserve this money but still its a ridiculous amount of money either way. Zion 93 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Not as much as I thought it would be, but then again I thought the cap was going up too fast to begin with.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Damn! This CBA sucks. As far as salaries are concerned I bet players are really hating it. Take a look at a guy like Datsyuk at $6.7 million per. When he signed that deal he was making 15.2% of the cap (individual player maximum of 20% due to the CBA), but as of next year given the cap does move up by $3 million he'll be making 12.6% of the cap. Not to mention what that percentage will look like 4+ years from now if the cap continues to rise the way it has. Sucks to be him.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 I have a bad feeling that the cap may go down the following year or later. I think a lot of this has to do with the very strong Cdn dollar that wasn't captured in last year's increase and now the dollar has come back down a bit, it will be interesting to see what happens. The hope would be to increase TV revenues over the next few years to make that a non-issue.

Opie 308 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Sweet Mad dingo those lines will look great next year when Brunnstrom is able to play!
mad dingo 6 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Sweet Mad dingo those lines will look great next year when Brunnstrom is able to play! If figured our Cap hit would be roughly 52m. I gave Cleary 3m, Lilja 1.2m, Brunstrom 0.85m, Val 2m and Hossa 7m. What happens the year after when Zetts is a FA, what if Brunstrom hits his rookie bonuses? Hopefully the cap goes up to 60m by then.

Assuming Burnstrom will be signed by Detroit is probably going too far at this point.
mad dingo 6 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Assuming Burnstrom will be signed by Detroit is probably going too far at this point. Its also a pretty big assumption having Hossa on our team. My purpose was to show what type of team we COULD have next year if the salary cap were to go to 53.3m.
WingFanInOilCountry 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Assuming Burnstrom will be signed by Detroit is probably going too far at this point. Agreed. He wants top 6 minutes, and unless he absolutely dominates over here he isn't going to get them with us.
