Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 Its not Holland's job to please every last nit-picky fan. His job is to compile a cup-contending team, which is something that we have been for the past 15 years, including each of the past 5 when the entire nhl had predicted it to be the year of the Wings' downfall. WiNgSowN 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 So now that Clearly is possibly done for the season do you think Holland wants 2 forwards and 1 defensemen or just 1 forward and 1 defensemen and hope clearly will be healthy for the playoffs? I was just curious to how the injury to Clearly affects everything. Could someone fill me in?

I bet Holland gets Blake and Hossa. And if somehow manages to get Sundin I would be thrilled yo watch the wing's come playoff time.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 I can’t believe people are criticising Holland for the Bertuzzi trade. I, probably more so than anyone else, hate to see prospects we let go start producing, and that’s what Matthias is doing. But there’s no way at the time of the trade it was anything but a great trade. Everyone was calling for Holland to make a trade, almost a trade for the sake of it, and when he went ahead with one most were calling it a success. Compared to what other teams gave up for rental players we came off pretty well. And keep in mind I’m sure Holland would’ve thought that Bertuzzi might have stuck around, as most tend to do in Detroit. He didn’t, and it turns out Matthias is far more than simply a grind line forward. However Bertuzzi had the potential to offer this team something we dearly needed and even though the end result isn’t good, I still give him credit for going ahead with the trade and taking a risk. It didn’t pay off but I was extremely excited when we landed Todd, and to merely give up one prospect and a pick for a guy who could’ve been the answer isn’t a great deal. Thx Wow Blake and Hossa would be great additions but I doubt Sundin as well I could see us getting a 2nd forward just not a big name like Sundin name just a forward that will produce with the minutes he's given like a Dustin Brown he would be perfect too bad we can't get him Well I'm confident in Holland in whatever he decides to do to make the team better
Demolition Man 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 2. Absolutley not. The Wings may have a good team on paper, but I really don't see this as a playoff team. They have virtually no secondary scoring. Filppula and Samuelsson are horribly inconsistant, and Hudler has decided to kickstart his summer vacation a little early. I know the guy isn't getting any decent minutes, but 0 goals in 10 games is un-acceptable. I can see how depth may be a concern for the future, and I can also see how we might worry about secondary scoring, but to say the Wings have virtually no secondary scoring is ridiculous. They've gotten 120 goals from players not named Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Holmstrom this season. The entire Anaheim Ducks team has only scored 148. Let's be realistic here.
