12Newf 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230144&hubname= The slumping Philadelphia Flyers got more bad news on Wednesday, as the team learned that they will be without winger Simon Gagne for the rest of the season. Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren told The Philadelphia Inquirer Wednesday that the veteran forward was seen by concussion specialist James Kelly in Denver and was told to stop playing for the remainder of the 2007-08 campaign. "As soon as we have had the opportunity to speak further with Dr. Kelly and Simon, we can shed more light on this," Holmgren was quoted in the paper. "Needless to say, we are very disappointed with this news." Gagne, 27, was injured on his first shift of the Flyers' 4-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Feb. 10 and sat out the final two periods. Gagne, who has seven goals and 18 points in 25 games, was examined the next day by the Flyers team doctor. He suffered a concussion on Oct. 24, sat out four games, then had another concussion on Nov. 7 and missed the next 26 games. He said his symptoms were worse after the last two concussions. Files from The Philadelphia Inquirer were used for this report.

SnipeShow 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2008 I don't know why the Flyers would be upset about this injury, he's not good is he? I don't think he's ever been healthy enough to make a case for being an elite NHL player.

They've been decent-to-good with him in the lineup, and downright awful without him.
