im hoping this kid has a good game and can show us a little bit of his potential tonight, i dont expect him to step in and be the next bobby orr or nick lidstrom, but if we can get a guy who is big and uses his size well then i think i will get excited, but for right now he is still just a prospect, half of whom dont work out

OK everybody calm down. Yes he is big, but from what I have been able to find on the net he is a very raw talent. Kindl and Smith are both regarded as better but they are more offensive minded defenseman. I think that Babs is giving him a look because Babs was impressed with him during training camp.

Don't expect too much from him yet. Just because he's big doesn't mean that he is ready for the NHL.

There is more to hockey than being big.

Also, I can't find anybody that lists him as more than 205. I'm not sure where the 250+ weight came from.

Im not everybody there so thanks.... And i just was saying that because im going to be at the game ;)

And no s*** that just because your big doesn't mean you can fight or hit

Me likes. He's showing some grit tonight and he admitted he needs to be more aggressive. You don't have to be a good fighter to be a good D-man & be an asset to the team.

"I like that he's big," Babcock said. "I think we had to get a new uniform made because we couldn't get a Red Wings (jersey) that big. The team has officially nicknamed him 'Tiny' and we've agreed to have it embroidered on his sweater".

Ericsson looked good tonight, he was physical and, more importantly, consistantly won the puck one-on-one in the defensive zone. He even drove the net a few times! Nice Work!

Cheers to Ericsson!

I would say he played well for his first game in NHL considering the situation we are in.

I think he needs a lot more experience but he looks like a smart guy so hopefully he will learn quick.

I won't lie, half the reason I'm excited about this kid is the fact that he'll now be on the post trade-deadline roster updates for video games. Sue me!

Nothing wrong with that. It sure beats the hell out of spending hours creating every player manually. It takes forever to use the "Create Player" feature, so roster updates are definitly a nice feature to have. :D
