YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Per TSN Two year deal at 1.7M per. This is interesting. There was a rumor earlier about how Anaheim wouldnt dole out Edmontons 1st rounder to Toronto for Sundin if Sundin was to be a rental, so there was talk that Anaheim was asking Steen to be a part of the package. Might be a sign and trade. Sundin and Steen to Anaheim for Carter or Ryan and Edmontons 1st.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Sign and trades usually only happen in arbitration cases. I don't really see Toronto giving up a good, young prospect like Steen, since he's one of the few building blocks they really have. Of course, this is the Leafs we're talking about, so... Then in the off-season they could re-sign Sundin, have Carter or Ryan from Anahiem, and have whatever player that 1st round pick from Edmonton brings them. It ends up being 3 for the price of 1. Not a bad deal, IMO.

Im confused cause you're saying Carter or Bobby Ryan, and its indeed Ryan Carter than Bobby has 20x more value than he does. It would kinda be like saying Kopecky or Filpulla. Ryan Carter really isnt very good, I dont see why Toronto would have interest in him. Interesting timing though with Steen, there was also a rumor about Stajan but i cant see the Ducks giving all that up without it being Steen.

Kp, if Anaheim is willing to give up Bobby Ryan in addition to that Edmonton 1st, i'd ship Steen out with a damn bow on him and a huge thank you basket if i was Toronto! They'd be crazy to not take that trade, especially considering Sundin will come back.

Both players have been rumored to be heading Torontos way, and yes it looks like it would be Bobby Ryan, but I think you are selling Carter a little short. Since the Weight move has started looking like a bust lately (1 point in his last 13 games), Carter is holding his own and getting some time as the 2nd line center, and apparently hes attracting interest from several teams.. I really don't buy any of these Sundin will rumors, but when you put it that way, I guess it makes sense. I don't know, but I'm under the impression Sundin will not be going anywhere, and he'll be painted a villian in the Tornto media for not doing so. I just have that feeling... Of course, all will fall into place on Tuesday, so we'll wait until then...
Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Sundin's going somewhere.... everything is pointing to that fact, it's just a matter of getting an acceptable trade. It's been reported (I'm sure you can find it if yuo look) that his agent has come out there, from his home elsewhere. I wouldn't think an agent would feel the need to be present (when he lives elsewhere) unless negotiations were going on.
