Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted February 28, 2008 Next GDT: "That goal wasn't bab's fault, he had no chance on that one. It was the D that broke down and left him out to dry."
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 28, 2008 I think that'd be Holland's job on the line then. Is this the same Holland who is treated like a GOD here? I don't think his job would be jeopardized more than Babcock's.
Rice 42 Report post Posted February 28, 2008 Sadly No.. What do you mean "sadly"? Babcock has put together incredible regular seasons (which actually do count for something) along with a trip to the WCF's. The Wings were almost in the Finals and probably would've made it had they had a healthy defense. I can't believe how quickly this skid has changed people's minds about this team. Had the team been totally healthy and they had the same skid, I could kind of understand where you're coming from. This, on the other hand, is absolutely ridiculous. What is the guy supposed to do without one of his top forwards and the majority of his defense?
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 28, 2008 Is this the same Holland who is treated like a GOD here? Depends on who you ask. The outrages (which were justified) over Holland's failed promises at the deadline did bring out some of the long awaited negativity. Reason I say "long awaited" is that people cut Holland way too much slack around here. If anyone dares question a move he makes, we're looked at as horrible fans that couldn't tell apart a rock from a moving bus. I'm happy the Wings got Stuart; don't get me wrong. But he should have gotten rid of certain players, especially Hudler and Samuelsson, when he had the chance. These dead weight guys will do nothing but bring the Wings down in the playoffs, since their not going to score. Plus, secondary scoring continues to be a joke. The Wings actaully did the unthinkable and got three goals in a single game last night, but the current guys still played terrible. Filppula scored, which was nice, but the other problems played yet another bad game. With the now extended comfort of knowing they won't lose their jobs, they'll be trying even less harder. I'm more disappointed in Holland for not getting rid of the problem players than not getting someone like Hossa. Seriously. You can all call me crazy, but I firmly believe this team will go nowhere but south (and that'll be for golf) if their going to be relying on scrubs like Hudler and Samuelsson for offensive production.
